I'll have a pop and say you rate KDB and Kovacic (wtf!) higher because they play for bigger clubs meantime so naturally have a bigger reputation. How can a player who plays for little hoffenheim be any good eh?

'If he's that good all the big clubs would be in for him'. Just like they were for Kompany, Zabaleta, De Jong when we signed them and the likes of Matic for Chelsea and Coutinho for Liverpool. It's just not true. There ARE top bargains to be had, Firmino is one of them.
I agree that Firmino would be a bargain, but that doesn't mean he's good enough. De Jong wouldn't get in our side now, neither would Coutinho.
As for Matic, h was very highly rated (Portuguese POTY) and was hardly cheapo at £25m.

No I don't actually, it's just I've seen more in them to know they are genuine genuine talents. Firmino is a good player don't get me wrong, but I feel there are better targets out there. If he came to City, I would be happy that we have signed him, but by no means would he be top of my list and if he went elsewhere, I wouldn't be that gutted either. If Griezmann or Reus signed for another prem club, I would be pissed off and gutted, that's the difference for me. Marquee signings of genuine star quality.

Inter Milan are hardly good now are they? Wolfsburg aren't exactly brilliant are they? It's got nothing to do with what team they play for. He isn't a signing of intent and this season, our club needs signings of intent instead of gambles that are not guaranteed.

This is why I would sign Lacazette, Pogba and De Bruyne for sure. Pogba is one of the best in Europe at such a young age, KDB Bundesliga player of the year and Lacazette French ligue player of the year, we need to cherry pick the best talents from all of the other leagues in Europe. We need the ones that are setting the benchmark.

As for Matic, he was Portuguese player of the year before Chelsea signed him.

Regarding the big clubs being all over the big players my point really wasn't how well Matic had performed for Benfica but the fact Chelsea picked him up for 25m when nobody else was in for him. Now? You'd be talking 50m or so plus for Matic, he's the heart of the Chelsea side and you can bet your bottom dollar that if he wanted a move then every major club would be interested.

Suarez is another example. Relatively cheap for Liverpool with no major competition for his signature. Yet anyone who watched him regularly at Ajax could tell he was a special player, Firmino is no different.

Agreed with you 100%.
Good player this lad.

€18M is around £13m, I will be astonished if Hoffenheim sell him for such a low fee considering his output in the Bundesliga in recent seasons.

£13m for Firmino would be the steal of the window.

I wish I knew if he was signing for us or United so that I can decide if he's under or over rated.

i think its about the fit. i just see him doing a better job in the prem for us.

I think if Isco came to City, alongside Silva and Aguero, he would be special. He would almost have the same impact as Sanchez and Hazard for me, i really think he is that good.

Fairly sure I heard he had an €18m minimum release clause so there's not a lot Hoffenheim can do about it in that situation

People might disagree with me, but i don't think Matic is all what he is cracked up to be. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player who is very good at his job, but he looks even better in a side where they play a more organised game under Mourinho, i don't think he would be as good under a manager like Guardiola, Wenger or Pellegrini where they play a completely different game. He is a very good player, just not a player who Real and Barca would look if he was available on the market IMO. He is your typical Jose Mourinho type of player... "do a job" and nothing more. At teams like Barca and Real you need more than that, Busquets dictates the tempo of games for Barca and so does Modric/Kroos for Real.

I don't think Firmino will be anywhere close to Suarez. Suarez is a special special player.

Absolutely a brilliant player, would love him here. I don't think we are going to complain though at whoever
comes in. This is going to be a brilliant window.on Firmino I think he'll be much easier to get and my he can play.

we can't buy everyone think this lad was a second option if we don't get our main targets but we still should be letting them know we still interested, price wise it's peanuts for him

If Firmino is back-up to KDB then we need to seriously move fast on KDB. If he is just a target then I would expect movement very quickly as we would not want the Rags taking one of our targets

Thanks Ric......I'm guessing if we get Sterling, there wouldn't be room for Firmino in the team? Don't know a lot about Firmino...Does Sterling and Firmino play similar positions? thanks

I see it's now 'a club'. Not too bothered either way, if we get him fine, although I see him as a squad player and nothing else, if the rags get him it's another average winger with no signings in defence and holding midfield.
