MacKenzieProbably true but a big fat pay rise and ‘give us another year’ might have swung it.
Swales allowed an awful lot more talent to leave City than just Barnes and Owen by the way.

Strangely, I have trouble remembering ; but I'd love to know . . .who did he play for?
(off to the sobriquets thread)
When Tommy Caton played against us for Arsenal at Highbury I do remember the City fans mocking him by singing that (he never did play for the full England side I believe).Unlike some others like Owen and Barnes, I’m sure it was Caton agitating for the move away himself.
“I want to play for England. “

It never really totally worked our for him after he left us did it!, he had a lot of potential but probably never realised it.
It was very sad that he died so young, early 30s with young kids too.
I'll be forever grateful for what Mancini achieved here. Won us the FA Cup, won us the league, went to OT and thrashed utd 6-1. Shut fergie up too. And that dreadful banner came down as a result of the Aguerooooohhh game. We played some fantastic fast flowing football with Roberto in charge. I can't fault the guy.I liked Mancini as a player, and I liked him as a coach. Nice read from City’s website. Not sure if it was posted before. I am glad the Club is giving him some of his deserved credit.

Few managers can ever expect to gain the love and admiration City fans have for Roberto Mancini.www.mancity.com
He looked a proper class CB for us and the move to Arsenal for a defender seemed the perfect one but sadly he never really fulfilled that incredible potential and talent. When Tommy Caton played against us for Arsenal at Highbury I do remember the City fans mocking him by singing that (he never did play for the full England side I believe).

The least we could do seeing we paid him twice!! ;)I liked Mancini as a player, and I liked him as a coach. Nice read from City’s website. Not sure if it was posted before. I am glad the Club is giving him some of his deserved credit.
