Roberto Mancini

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Mancini oaaoaahh, Mancini oahahah, he came from Italy, to manage Man City.

I really miss these songs in terms of atmosphere. Really came trough even when watching games in TV.

Dont really miss him as a manager tho.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Think there must be a mixture of Bobby & Manuel out there somewhere that would be about right. Maybe Koeman? He comes across as someone that could go ape shit but is also a gentleman like Manuel at times.

Said he still has the club in his heart and wouldn't rule out returning one day. He thought the 'Holistic' term was just nonsense the club said after they sacked him.

He said Pellegrini is a good manager and doing a good job, and that the team has improved. But the poignant thing he said was that the big players in the team - Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Aguero, were all players he brought to the club, (and Zabba and Kompany, who he clearly got the best out of.)

As I've said before, the last world class player we bought was Aguero in 2011. That's 3 and a half years since we bought a truly exceptional player. I think 3 things stick out about that:

1. That despite what some people might profess, FFP has already had a very real impact on our progress, and limited our ability to sign the best talent in the world.

2. Even Mancini's biggest critic must admit he was a very good judge of a player.

3. Txiki has done some excellent work, but the quality of the players he has brought in during the last 3 years have not greatly improved the first team so far.

I think that he did get the best out of Zabba & Kompany but I also think we've seen improvements in Silva, Nasri & Aguero since he left.

Not really sure what's to be gained by going over old ground for the millionth time. He's got positives, big ones and he's got huge downsides too. Most City fans like him but it turns out he's a twat to work with day to day.

He won't be back at City as long as the current owner is here so there's really no point in dragging up all the ill feeling that these threads inevitably do.

Whether he wouldn't rule it out or not is irrelevant, because as long as this regime are at City, Mancini certainly won't be coming back, so anyone still clinging to that hope, must also be clinging to the hope that this regime will leave.

Perish the thought.

We all know he will never manage City again because its only under the current owners that he would.

Might manage in the premiership one day again although I would be surprised unless its very late in his managerial career.

Good for three years as far as the first team goes but his record in Europe was below what was expected by most.

Obviously paid little or no attention to taking an active interest in youth and having input into youth development.

Nothing to be gained by blowing your own trumpet after you have been shown the door.

Would have him all over again if no one better was available after Leslie was moved on but had to go.

Wouldn't want him back.
Pelligrini appears to have zero interest in bringing through youth team players

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

If he did ever manage another Premier league club, he would get an outstanding ovation on his return to the Etihad

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

Loved his passion but his man management was poor in the end.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

They say you never get over your first love, and let's be honest, after decades of watching shite managed by shite, Mancini was an absolute god and the 1st manager whose leaving this club broke my heart!

So in short, the OP is not in the minority but I accept things move on!
