If van Persie is open about where he'll go, he might already have left Arsenal by the time we're ready to make our opening bid (after we sell Tevez or Dzeko). Clubs aren't going to wait around like we will which begs the question is van Persie dead-set on coming here?

Yep he is. He was spotted in Hale a couple of weeks ago, and my guess is that he was doing a spot of house hunting. You don't do that unless there is a serious bid from City imminent.

Why don't we just let Bobby manage his squad thats what he's paid to do. It's irrelevant what we think anyway, it's up to Bobby and of course our Chairman/Owner who we bring in or don't bring in. Just enjoy the fact that we are now in a position as a club, for us fans to have discussions about whether we should bring one of the Worlds best strikers to the club or not.
True but its good fun trying to second guess and question decisions that havent been made

Of course it is up to the powers that be who comes and goes, that I assumed was a given. I am just saying that whilst RVP is one of the best, is he the best option for us, at a time when our team has gelled and is winning things together. I am enjoying the position we find ourselves in, I am just asking whether now might be the time to stick rather than twist.

Does Dzeko want to leave?

If not, I am surprised at how happy some seem to toss him aside for RVP. Dzeko scored some important goals for us and no matter how they came about or how many were in one game etc if this season showed us anything it's that every goal counts. Don't we have to take into account that RVP was more or less the only goal scorer for Arsenal, where as our players had to fight for time on the pitch so spreading the goals amongst three.

One of my most vivid memories of the QPR game was Dzeko after scoring, running back to the halfway line shouting at the team to C'mon!! He obviously believed in the team and what we wanted to achieve. I worry we are being to quick to always want the next shiny new thing, pulling names out of a hat, so sure player A,B,C will be better and cast aside the players we have. Maybe we should take a breath and appreciate what we have, a title winning team! We were lucky with Aguero, he settled in so quickly and has shone, we may not be again. When the team are so together I can't help thinking if it ain't broke don't fix it

Good point, if it was up to me and it was between the Bosanski dijamant and RVP I would go with Dzeko, give him another season at least, why get rid after 18 months when he is not a tosser like Adebayor and despite being slagged off left right and centre is still one of the best strikers in the world, just get him confident and well suppiled and there is no reason to think he can't improve on his goal return next season.

Win win situation for us to be fair, the arguments about it are daft. Sign a top striker or keep the 4 top strikers we already have.

Fair enough, but one of our strikers took 6 months off last year, and has put in 2/3 transfers requests at moment. Another was suspended for almost a quarter of season, yet we still won the league.
Yet the striker we want to sign played a full season and was also top goal scorer!
Plus about ten assists. Balo one had one.
BUT IT WAS A GREAT ONE, BALLOTELLI, AAAGGGUUEERRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Prior to last season RVP hadn't completed a full season for Arsenal. So if were comparing strikers at least give Balotelli (who is 7 years younger) a chance.

At the age of 21 RVP played 26 times in the league for Arsenal with 5 goals and 1 assist. In total 41 games and 11 goals (Just over 1 goal every 4 games). Comparing that to Balotelli's 23 games with a much more productive 13 goals and 2 assists (not 1). In total 32 games and 17 goals (Just over 1 goal every other game).

Just trying to put in perspective what Balotelli can do now, and what he could do at RVP's age if the extra baggage is gone.

where should I start; in first season he played mostly on wing, abit like Mr Henry and didn`t take penalities unlike Mario.
Mario took 5 pens last season and took them well.
As for RVP being injuryprone he`s played over 30 games in 6 out of the 8 seasons he`s been at the arse.

I go in and out of having this opinion too mate.

By all accounts it seems RvP will be a replacement for Tevez. That being said, Dzeko will probably stay on.

Anyway, when it comes to Dzeko I'm in two minds. Firstly from what I can tell is he is a genuine guy, friends with the players, and has a great attitude towards squad rotation and sitting out a game or two. On the other hand, with the service and players playing behind him, I can't help but think he should have been scoring a lot more of his chances. Sure he did score a lot, but I suspect a player who's confidence isn't so easily knocked would have scored more!

Another thing I noticed as well, is that Dzeko was on absolute fire when he was playing every game at the start of the season. Looked unplayable at Spurs away. At the same time, Balotelli was taking the limited chances he was given. Coming off the bench and playing well. It seemed to be that when Dzeko's and Balotelli's roles were reversed in the team, both suffered in form. Dzeko's confidence was knocked, and Balotelli seemed to be trying less.

At the end of the day I'm not a football manager or accomplished in the world of football like Mancini is, so I'll let him call the shots. I made a thread the other day called "Are you calm?" or something like that, and it was about issues like this. After winning the league and the FA cup in two years, I have total confidence in the team and the management now. I've got a sense of 'kick back, relax, and watch the good times roll'. I guess this is what it must feel like to be a Rag fan for so many years, minus the twat attitude and sense of entitlement. We'll see what the summer brings after Sept 1st. I'm positive we'll be happy though!

If this comes off, we should bring Vieira out of retirement before we play Arsenal next season then line up like this:

_______________Hart_______________
__KOLO TOURE_Kompany__CLICHY____
__________________________________
______YAYA TOURE___VIEIRA_________
____Silva______NASRI_____Aguero____
__________________________________
______ADEBAYOR__VAN PERSIE_______

We'd run riot :')

Great post. I really like Dzeko as well. He seems to have a real determination to succeed without causing trouble. He should share some of the plaudits that the Zabman gets. Not as much, but some.

That's bollocks. A rumour started on twitter by Neil Fairbrother a rag winding City fans up.
