I'm curious as to why Ferguson would announce they'd made a bid. He may be lots of things but he isn't stupid and he never, ever, does anything without a strategic goal in mind.

The season ticket argument is not without merit but I'm struggling to see why he would invite ridicule upon his club if they failed. Perhaps he realises that RVP wants to come to us and it is merely a tool to drive the price up, or perhaps the opposite is true and he's marking his territory.

Make no mistake this next season will define the future bragging rights for the next decade between our two clubs and he knows it. They win it and they can keep up, we win it and they're fucked for a whole series of reasons.

This also could be a strategic move by bacon face ala berbatov transfer. If I remember correctly bacon chops used this kind of ploy in publicly stating their interest to unsettle him and force him to go on strike. Arse should fucking report him of tapping up players to teach him a lesson.

If it's was a "done deal" in January as mentioned, I can't really understand why the saga is still running and why he hasn't already signed for us?

Maybe he hadn't agreed anything and hence why United and Juventus are also in the hunt.

I'm confident Van Persie will sign for City. I'm not so sure Wenger would be happy doing business with Fergie and would reluctantly sell the player to ourselves if he had to choose between us and them.

Maybe our past dealings with Arsenal FC on previous transfers (Toure, Nasri, Adebayor etc) will help as well? All this is subject to Van Persie wanting to come to us but I'm sure he will. As for Juventus, I just can't see him going abroad and think he'll stay in the Premier League.

A lot of fans have said they don't want him but I'd get him signed in an instant, he'll bag goals galore in this team!

the only way i can see him coming to us is if we sell one of our 4 strikers. and im not talking about RSC and ADE. it has to be one of dzeko , aguero, balo, or tevez.

sad to say but i just cannot see RVP coming in as a 5th top striker. that would be suicide to have 5 top strikers all wanting to have sufficient game time.
