ROBERTO MANCINI is furious Manchester City are falling behind in the race to sign Robin van Persie.
The City boss has become increasingly annoyed with football administration officer Brian Marwood for not securing Arsenal’s Dutch star.

Mancini was hoping to have signed Van Persie ahead of the club’s tour of China, with City due to play Arsenal in Beijing on Friday.

But the Etihad manager has been told that before a deal for Van Persie can be completed, he will first have to reduce the club’s wage bill by offloading at least one of Edin Dzeko, Emmanuel Adebayor or Carlos Tevez.

City have so far offered £15million — the highest bid so far — yet Arsenal insist they will not listen to offers below £20m as Manchester United, Paris St Germain and Juventus are also interested.

Arsenal, who play Malaysia tonight, have been preparing for City officials to make a second bid.

Juventus are ready to rival City with wages of £200,000 a week but they are not prepared to pay more than £16m.

United have so far bid £13m and Juve just £8m.

But Arsenal could turn down all offers of less than £20m and make Van Persie see out the final year of his contract

falling behind by offering more than anyone else - how does that work then?

Ok I have seen several reporters say this, but how does moving Adebayor make space for RVP in the squad?

1) Ade is on ridiculous wages and we need to fall into line with FFP.
2) RVP and Ade hate each other
3) Then we'd have 5 strikers, we can only realistically take on 4

I will go for starting Balotelli than Van Persie because Balotelli can be a world class player in 2 years and Van Persie has not future left.

Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli, Aguero and RVP is still 5 strikers. Adebayor was not here last season, so i dont get the idea that he's clearing space for someone. The wages makes sense, but for RVP to come, one of the other four has to make way. i also dont buy the idea that some of them can play in midfeild

He is taking over Russia. Capello took the national team, so he will be Putin's replacement.

fucking hilarious, still rooting for rvp to juve so he can drive serie a nuts

Every season these twats trawl through places like this, looking for titbits from disgruntled ex employees or anything they can use to shit stir & get in favour with Sir Alex.

People making up shit about Marwood was too good for them to leave alone. As if ANYONE from Mancini's camp would take a story to Bob fucking Cass or that other wanker. May as well phone Ferguson.

Horseshit.

Btw, if you were Arsenal, trying to break the Chinese market, would you under any circumstances allow your star player to sign for your opponents before you played them ?

Neither would I.

LMFAO @ the papers today we've made the highest bid yet we're falling behind how exactly? Nobody has made a 2nd bid yet and when we bid 1st time we still had Ade,Dzeko,Tevez,RSC so whats the difference. Every year they come up with the same bullshit.

Just makes me more confident we'll pull it off.

I can remember when The Mirror was the paper of choice for the decent, respectable and articulate working class of this country.

To see it plumb to such depths is sad.

You've failed to take into account the fact that a City bid isn't considered 'official' until 'Arry declares that "Man City 'ave gone an' blown evreee one else aaaat the waaaater".
