Can't believe some of the comments I'm reading. Regardless of what some of you think of Shrek, the lad tears up the premier league more often than not. He scored 27 league goals last season. RVP is a world class footballer. His issues are his injury record, but last season he stayed fit. Do we really want the 2 of them playing for the scum next season?

Yes, we still have forwards of that ilk ourselves. But last season we only beat them on goal difference and their most influential player & captain was injured for most of the season. Take Kompany out of our side for that length of time and we'd struggle to make the top 4.

We are easily good enough to compete with them, but Vidic coming back, Moura, Kagawa and potentially RVP would be a significant improvement to their squad from last season.

A fit RVP playing for the rags for the full season scores over 30 league goals on top of shreks. Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko and Mario can definitely out score their strike force. But my point is, why would some be happy RVP goes there? Rooney & RVP is significantly better than Rooney & Welbeck. So surely, RVP going to Juve would be better for us?

Get to fuk Rag..

Without Vinny for a season we wouldn't be top 4?

PLEASE....

A joke for a first choice keeper, Ageing and creaking defence, Evra having a nightmare, Jones and Evans as cover for defence, An anicent Giggs and Scholes in midfield, unproven new kids coming in, Total reliance on Shrek upfront and top that off with a 29 year old £20m+ injury prone signing....

Yeah i'm quaking in my boots...

Bobbie Black bins = disrespectul over-reacting spunk cloth.

If Kompany had a long term injury, Micah would be moved to CB and Zaba right back. So no we wouldn't struggle for the top 4. Ridiculous thing to say.

Micah is not a centre back. Dont get me wrong as an emergency or when there are injuries then he can do a job there but he would be badly exposed against the better strikers in that position over a long term basis.

Youve got your opinion and thats fine, but look back at the games when Kompany was injured last season, look what an absolute mess we were. Look how shit forwards were running riot creating chances against us.

A lot of the time our forwards made up for it and got us out of the shit, i,e tottenham at home, but over the course of the season missing Vinnie, this team would finish way off the title pace put it that way.

For starters, show a bit of respect to your fellow Bluemooners, even if you disagree with them.

Secondly your dismissal of the team that has been at the top year after year is very foolish. Bobby and the lads won't be underestimating them like some on here do that's for sure.

De Gea is a top young keeper. Last year was his settling in season. He was very solid towards the back end of the year. Their squad is very strong and if their youngsters (Smalling, Jones, Cleverly, Powell, Welbeck etc) develop the way want them too, then there's no reason to think they wont be around as our main rivals for the forseable future.

Kagawa is also a good player and if they land RvP they will be all that more dangerous.

Nail on the head.

With Chelsea strengthing there squad and now Arsenal with getting in reinforcements those clubs will be closer to us this year making winning the league harder than last year
If we lost Kompany , Yaya ,Silva or Sergio to injury for a few months we would
Be in the shit
We do need to add some players and I have no doubt that the club will bring in the players that we need

Vieira confirms City´s RVP interest
5 August 2012

Former Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira has confirmed the club's interest in Arsenal hitman Robin Van Persie.

Vieira, who holds the position of football development executive at Premier League champions City, said Van Persie's contractual situation has caught the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.

"When there's a player like Van Persie, with only one year of contract, all the big clubs try to buy him," the Frenchman said.

"Juventus, Manchester United and even City because (City manager Roberto) Mancini likes him so much.

"Currently, though, Van Persie is an Arsenal player."

Meanwhile, Mancini has cooled rumors that have linked City players Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Aleksandar Kolarov to the Serie A.

"I don't know if Italian teams could buy Dzeko, Tevez or Kolarov. It depends of what our club want to do," he said.

"What I know is these three players are pivotal for us, they are happy here and we don't want them to go. Manchester City are playing to win all the trophies and need a strong team.

Mancini has not signed any new players in the off-season, while city rivals United have spent 18 million pounds on new blood.

And the Italian believes United will still be the team to beat next season, even with City being the defending champions.

"We are a work in progress as all the other teams at this moment are, even though we start the season earlier, still we have some players in Manchester," he said.

"We are not the team to beat. Manchester United are."

City continued their build-up to the new season with a 2-0 friendly victory at Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg on Saturday, followed by a comfortable 4-0 over Irish side Limerick on Sunday.

I do so hope RVP is not coming to us.
DM (preferably Martinez to cover CH as well) and a left wide player are where we need to strengthen.

-- Mon Aug 06, 2012 3:50 am --

I do so hope RVP is not coming to us.
