have it on good authority that RVP's agent met Marwood last night...

So he goes to Utd Marwood gets the blame!!

if he comes to us Khaldoon has stepped in to seal the deal!

i think he`ll be a good buy for united IF they can keep him fit.

hopefully we wont take the gamble on a 29 year old who will cost a shit load in transfer fee and wages over the next 2 to 3 years, because with passed history a gamble is what he surely is.

i hope it all ends in tears

It's weird one this by the scum can't remember them ever buying 29 year old especially for 15m+ and wages of 150k they'll probably give him a 3 years deal! It's stinks of desperation the las throws of a manager in his last season..

I don't buy this "desperation" line to be honest. They're obviously determined to try and win the title back and while such a signing means moving away from their usual policy of signing players younger than a certain age, he's in that bracket of players where making an exception is justified. Of course, long-term he has little or no re-sale value but if they got him and he had a similar season to last term which in turn fired them to the title then they would see it as money well spent.

Of course, I will add that if they do get him I hope that he suffers from a chronic loss of form and the whole thing goes tits up.

Looks like they may have lost out on Baines and for all the links to Hazard, Moura, RVP etc all they have so far is Kagawa. Their squad is ageing. In previous seasons Ferguson has planned years ahead. Now they're looking to sign a 29 yr old to salvage their hopes, and he'd need replacing almost immediately.

Bizarre time for Kompany to weigh in with his opinion...

Unless it is heating up again.

Remain on the fence with this one personally - great, great player but amazingly we don't actually need him. Then again, we don't actually 'need' anyone really, so last year's player of the year is not a bad luxury to have.

Plus it would be a chance to really twist the knife into Fergie too, after he has been so public with his desire. Better have a big box of tissues on standby for his next nosebleed if we do sign Van Persie!

Kompany's comments seem very tactical indeed, unless he was cornered and asked specifically about RvP, in which case he could hardly say nothing.
