im certain we are still in for him, otherwise he would have gone elsewhere already. think about it properly - forget this shit about arsenal not wanting to sell to united, that is total shite, when a player is in the last year of their contract you sell to the highest bidder regardless.

United wouldn't have to offload anyone

We clearly would have to offload at least 2 to even justify it

If he was definitely only dealing with united, it would have been done now a) becuase they HAVE to win the league next year b) with the shares floating they have to look like they are trying to compete for trophies

The arrogance of the red mob currently, is absolutely staggering, still dismissing us as if we were in the 2nd division still

I want their club to die a long slow death, and im hoping this could be the start of it

It would be a massive blow if they miss out on RVP, for that reason alone i would sign him.

They are absolutely desperate to land him, and they have pinned all the hopes on him

The only thing I disagree with there, is that you would sign RVP because it would be a massive blow to United. To me, that's just a happy side effect of signing (imo) the best striker in the Premier League last season. This would allow Mancini to rotate our strikers without any reduction in quality. RVP + DDR = Serious Champions League contenders and a shoe in for the title.

And that post just made me think that we're still in the hunt, Vinnie's comments if actually made make me think he is letting on more than we initially thought

Stan collymore made a good point (for once) regarding RVP and why he thought he was definately off and what sort of character he could be in that last season he knew he was going to be leaving Arsenal so he upped his game, became the player he could be and had the best season of his Arsenal career. My problem with signing RVP is that he`ll know he`s on a 5 yr contract and settle into his old ways. The slighest twinge and he`s on the treatment table and only play well when he feels like it. This was the rumour going round Arsenal when he was there, that he wasn`t really injured he was just a mard arse who couldn`t be bothered to put the effort in unless it was for his benefit??

find that hard to believe fella, all of the Worlds top players want to win trophies-you dont win them by faking injury.

Not saying he wasn`t injured,i mean who oreally knows whats going on behind the scenes.Just that he made more out of it than he should have and didn`t get back to playing as quickly as he could have. This is from a good friend of mine who has followed the Arse all his life. RVP was the cause/subject of quite a few dresing room arguments according to him. Who knows if its true but i can see sense in him upping his game knowing he`s gonna be off this season. I`m easy weather we get him or not. Exciting if he comes but if not i think we already have the firepower to challenge this season. Tevez looks hungry again.

Ok - here's my take on it. I think there are two live bids on the table, 12m from them and 15/18m from us and we've said take it or leave it (quite right too). I think fergie is biding his time hoping we will sign Cavani/Falcao and leave Asre / RVP with no options. I also can't believe he would want to go to a team on the downward slope if he does want to win things.

We are keeping it alive by not walking away and by things like the Vinnie interview yesterday. I've seen this at work in interviews - it goes like this - 'Vinnie - few words for SSN ? Yeah ok, I suppose you want me to make a comment about RVP then? Well no but I do now.'

There is no way we will sign him we santa cruz, ade and Dzeko all still here.

Marwood and RVP's agent definitely met on Monday night but from what I'm hearing through a current Premier League manager with close connections to the rags, Van Rapist is holding out for a move to Stretford. Fuck him, we've got four top strikers at the right age, not some greying crock who's approaching 30 with two decent seasons in him.

Quite happy with the short-sighted thinking from the rags.

sorry mate but thats horse shit! we stalled the deal and its rvp who is holding out for us! to be honest we sold him up the river abit as we had pretty much everything sorted but then all this shite with regarding transfers our end kicked off and its still in limbo at mo.

United will be challenging us for the foreseeable future, and winning things when we slip up. Downward Spiral? Not a chance. We won in the dying seconds of the season and if they add RVP to their line up along with Kagawa, they will be challenging us make no mistake. I don't think they'll win as much as they are used to winning, titles I mean, because we will be taking the lions share I believe, but to think United are on a downward spiral is wrong.

Just saying what I've heard mate from a reliable source too with no reason to lie or exaggerate. Not fussed anyway, his peak was the last 18 months, seriously think it's all downhill now.
