Obviously theres been ALOT of talking about RVP to city and Arsenal thinking of cashing in.
Personally i dont want him at city, reasons being:

• He'll be 29 by the start of next season so he can't progress that much more.

• He will have little to no resell value, where as if we went for someone like Cavani not only will he get better but if we have to sell or for whatever reason we could still command a decent fee.

• For me this season has been RVP prime season, he will not have another season in which he will be so prolific.

• Hes not going to be cheap either - commanding a fee of around £30Million.

• Where as if we were to increase that £30M to £40M and get Bale from spurs it would not only benefit the team as a whole but it could kick start Dzeko and hopefully havve him playing alot better than he currently is.

• on top of that he is also injury prone, and that is another reason he wont have another season as good as he is having at the moment.

Anybody else feel the same?

Mods you can merge this if you want....

Since being played up front he has 86 goals and 44 assists in 140 games over the last 4 seasons. The whole "this is his only good season" is a complete myth. His only problem was injuries. Does he need to get better? Does he need resale value? If you did buy him you know you could just.... y'now, keep him?

Anyway I hope he stays (obviously), but he'd improve any team.

agree with this...he's a fantastic athlete and would play in 'any' side.

The thing for me with Van Persie is that he has a very good footballing brain, he may lose a bit of pace/acceleration over the coming years but he could easily rely on the above to get 3-4 top class seasons in and become very similar to a Bergkamp type player.

Personally, I wouldn't be too keen purely for the fact he's been quite vocal about us as a club in the past, but if the club wants him and he wants to come it's tough shit.

Imagine aguero and tevez playing off van persie would be interesting to see how it would work out.

Would probably be hugely successful. He's acted a twat tonight but every footballer has that in them when things aren't going their way. I also agree re: the point made about his pace, it's really not a huge part of his game. You could get another 3 seasons out of him like this.

I'l forever umm and arr about it given his age, but I won't be upset if he arrives nor upset if he doesn't. I'l be upset if we pay 50 million for him but an experienced head up top is what we've been missing without Tevez, so if he's off and RVP fancies taking over it's not the end of the world really.

Still need the Ronaldo/Sanchez/Hazard type fast tricky danger man though. It should never be understated how important Ronaldo was for the shite or now for Real. Players like that can single handedly bail you out when it's not going your way and we still don't really have anyone like that.

Don't get Van Persie, buy Falcao and/or Llorente then get rid of Balotelli and Dzeko then maybe a good winger
