RVP has played his best season. He will not repeat. He would be like an older Andy Carroll -- ridiculous transfer fee and then nowt. At least Andy Carroll is young enough and looks like he's coming around but RVP is on the zenith of the Bell curve and is on his way down.

RVP is a much better finisher than Carroll and both are completely different players. Falcao or Cavani would probably be a better option though.

One great season doesn't make him the best striker in the world pal.

By that logic Newcastle's Cisse was the best striker in the world as he lined up against us.

I'll have a £10 bet with anyone on here that he doesn't score 25 league goals next season regardless of who he's with.

All bets are void if he plays in Scotland or Holland next year

Can you name a better striker at the moment? With stats to back it up, because the man had 30 goals and 13 assists in the best league in the world for CRYING OUT LOUD.

Falcao

Great player for sure, but does he have the assist numbers Van Persie has over the years. Falcao is possibly a better pure scorer, but an all around striker no way (IMO)

This 100%. Van Persie had 14 assists this season, how many has Tevez ever had in a season? To say by a good margin is very odd. Van Persie just had arguably the best ever season by a player in PL history. Tevez is great no doubt, but Van Persie at the moment is the best striker in the world(IMO)

1 great season???

Over the last 4 seasons his record is 144 games 89 goals 44 assists.
This is the first season he has scored more than 20 goals in the league. He normally just edges into double figures.

Robin van Persie has indicated that he has no intention of signing his proposed new contract at Arsenal in the immediate future as he waits to see which of his suitors will make official offers for him.

Manchester City and Juventus are prominent among that group and sources at each club say their information is that Van Persie will not agree to fresh terms at the Emirates Stadium under any circumstances, increasing the likelihood of his departure this summer.

The striker opened negotiations with the Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, and the club's chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, in London on Wednesday and it was never likely that the meeting would end with Van Persie's signature on the new deal, which would pay him £130,000 a week, plus a £5m re-signing bonus. Van Persie's contract has a little over 12 months to run.

Arsenal maintain there is plenty of time for Van Persie to reflect and commit his remaining peak years to them and they also have the option of holding him for one final season, even if that policy would risk them losing a hugely saleable asset for nothing as a free agent next summer.

Not entirely sure if I want us to get him.. We don't exactly need a Striker at the moment and if we did I'd rather have Cavani or Falcao as they are much Younger

relies heavily on service of wingers. alot of 6 yard tap ins. i know he's scored some quality goals as well but nothing too impressive for me. really hope he's not our first target

1 great season in a bad Arsenal side.
Too old for the money.
He dissed us many times. Fuck him.
Im not sure so dont knee yerk me if im wrong.

But doesnt RVP have like 88 goals on 144 games for Arsenal in 4 seasons?
Thats not to bad.

i agree his injury record should be a concern though.

Vieira latest comments on this transfer?
He basically says Arsenal needs to keep him and sign good players to show him Arsenal still can compete.
If we would be after RVP, would Vieira come out with this comments?

No knee jerk at all.
Hard to argue with figures.( did they win 'owt?)
He's still too old and he did dis us a few times.
So for that reason once again it's a "fuck him" from me

lol

Viera never said that RVP should quit Arsenal.

#moveon

And I'd rather have Falcao then rvp....

RVP is class, to the fans not wanting him here I personally find it funny. His proven in the premier league and would really add that finishing touch. Imagine him and Aguero upfront, holy shit.

I can't think of a better addition to our team. Yeah sure Hulk, Falcao, still a big risk if they don't adapt. I have my doubts now after seeing Dzeko, It's a bigger risk trying some of these ours out. RVP is the right fit, who cares about his sell on value or age, his still 28, I assume the board would factor in the amount of money he could make us on the pitch and not re-sell value.

I trust Mancini, If we don't get RVP we will get Cavani. Not a bad second choice

Doubts on Dzeko? And what might they be?
He was playing very well at the beginning of this season before Mancini decided on his squad rotation, and he kept getting lesser games. And Mancini keeps playing him on the wing for some reason.
A player like Dzeko needs to be in a central role, he needs to be playing games, and he needs to have a good winger in the team who can get the ball to him, rather than the first defender. A fine example, is that perfect Kolarov cross to Dzeko that he scored from. He is the one who broke the deadlock against QPR, without which the rest of the team would not have been inspired to go for the win and become Champions. Lets give him some credit please..

Honestly, I'd rather keep Dzeko and try to increase his confidence and playing time, than buy RVP. Why would you want to take a risk on a player who has had only 2 (or less) injury-free seasons in his whole career? If he's really yearning for titles, let him come to us at the wages offered by Arsenal rather than looking for a big money move..and we need to get rid of that thinking if we want to adhere to FFP

btw, I don't know about Hulk but Falcao has already proven himself in two leagues without any need for settling in..so he looks very much like Aguero on that front..

My preferences would be in this order: Falcao,Cavani,Higuain,RVP

Falcao went to Atletico for around £35 million, after this season they will be looking £50 million or more if they are going to sell him.

NO CHANCE we spend that on one player this summer.
