Robinho purchase was madness

Hope you have your tin hat mate.

But I sort of agree with you. We can't be certain what signing Robinho did to the dressing room and team spirit but it must have dented some players' confidence.

At the end of the day he is a world class player and I hope we soon have a team to match. There are times we look very weak and I believe we have certain players who are fair weather players. Elano is definitely one. When we are on song he looks great but once a battle starts he falls apart. Robinho is not quite the same but he has been very quiet in some of our poor performances.

there are times when he has undoubtebly raised the team atmosphere too....not to mention player confidence...i personally believe irelands new found form is a direct result of robinho's influence

I firmly believe Robinho was our most stupid, rushed and un-thoughtout signing.

He was purchased as a "show of our spending power" by ADUG. He was not purchased with any tactical or personal thought whatsoever.

Yes he's a great player, been brilliant 90% of time but the ramifications of his signing now typify the problems we have.

we were running before we could walk with Robbie.

I'll bet a fair wager that his situation causes division in the dressing room and puts hughes in many an awkward spot. His wages, his power when it comes to transfers/purchases and his relationship with "the brazilians".

I love City, and like Robinho. I want him to stay, but look where we are with him.

He may be a wizard on the field as was Kinky.
We did fuck all then as well.

Not a thread to sell him, just a hasty, buy for the wrong reason purchase for me.
He will take careful, skillfull managing to intergrate him and others at City. Big big task for Mr Hughes.

good point, since Robinho should have been on the bench a couple of times returning from injury but hughes has bowed to his clout, started him and its been the wrong decision for the team. however, delighted he is with us and a bit pissed off i didnt take him at 33/1 for top goalscorer in prem back in september/october. like a twat i backed santa cruz - also at 33-1 and he has done jack since then...

The tin-hat is not needed because i'm not saying I don't want him, I'm saying he should have been a purchase with thought, consultation and bit more time.

I have said this before, so its not a knee-jerk. My best friend pointed it out the day he signed.
He thought it was amazing, but madness. I agree.

Mark Hughes (I'm not a fan) needed time to settle in, steady the ship, create unity.
Instead he got a world supersar on huge wages with a seemingly free reign on what he can say with regards to purchases or anything for that matter.

Like I said , great on the pitch, not so sure he has helped in the initial scheme of things back of house.

You are talking rubbish he has added to the team!!!

We where crap after last Jan's transfer window...trash in the preseason..We have Robinho we need him. Some of our players are a disgrace ..aaaaaaaaaargh!!!

I think Ireland's form is down to his own hard work and sorting his head out. Obviously playing with better players will help but at the end of the day he has done it himself.

He's top class and I think the gulf in class between him and certain other players has caused a few problems. Some of our team just aren't on his wavelength and can't raise their game enough to match or get close to him. In many ways that isn't their fault, they just aren't good enough.

He'll hopefully be a great player for us and become a legend. With the right players around him I'm certain he can become one of the top few players in the world. I think the original poster was saying that we need to build up the team from the bottom before the likes of Robinho can be fully effective. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

This is the type of opinion that truly and utterly defines a losing mentality.

Give a manager like Sven a palyer like Robinho and we'd be on our way to becoming fucking world beaters. Give him to Hughes and he's a problem/obstacle.

I'm sorry, But Robinho is far more than a statement. He's the future. And for once, at last! At long fucking last, lets know that that is where we are going! Robinho, a mistake? No way! Mark Hughes is the mistake.

Daft thread, with the money available we should be looking to kick on, fast

The backbone should be here by the end of the month, Wayne Bridge is a start
