Robinho purchase was madness

I couldn't disagree more, when you have a chance to sign one of the worlds best players, you MUST take it. Yes a team needs a solid backbone but, there are at least 12 such players in each position in Europe(and England)that can fill those roles. The worlds best players are simply are about 1 player per position that can rightly be called that, and they don't come up on the market often so when they are around you must get them if you have the chance. On top of that where would we be without the 12 goals that he has scored for us so far this season, I will tell you, without the goals directly we would be bottom of the table and out of the UEFA cup along with the LC and FA Cup(which of course he did not play in either).

We're just going to have to be patient. Robinho is a star but the team is crap. One player doesn't make a team. We have to replace the crap with better players to improve the team and then we will see more of Robinho.

These players have played a lot this season and they aren't good enough. With so many weak links we are going nowhere. But we are lucky to have the money to sort it out. I really think by the start of next season we will have a very good squad.

We have some of the players a squad needs to compete at the top. Some are out of form/injured at the moment but I think they have a role to play in the squad if not the first team.

After those there are the youngsters who should be kept and given a chance: Johnson, Sturridge, Jo (I think he could come good).

We need cover in goal. We need a new centre back. We need a new defensive midfielder/box to box player. And we desperately need at least one centre forward. They are the priority positions. After that we need cover. There is a long way to go.

He seems to beleive in the City "project" he appears to love US the fans, he seems happy at City. He's involved with new signings. He's a very important figure at the club.

If we had 32 mill to spend in hindsight would you have purchased Robbie or say 4 or 5 other players in our weak areas?

and if so...

Would we be in a stronger situation?

Because Hughes needs to control and dominate his squad. He did that at Blackburn because all the players were at or around his level. At City, there are players who are better than he ever was . In the case of Robinho, there is a player who is light years ahead of what he ever was.

Hughes as a player always resented skillful footballers and made his own reputation by hard work and a physical approach to the game. He values hard work over talent, always has. That's why he is an obstacle to Robinho.
