For those of you who like Hughes, and it's an opinion I respect, this is the real reason why he is going in the summer in my opinion. We want to sign MAJOR stars and for sure they have already been sounded out, via their agents. Lets say, for arguments sake, we want to sign Terry, Yaya Toure, Tevez and Ibrahimovic, and they have told the club that they're not interested with Hughes in charge, but would be up for it with Mourinho in charge, then it's bye bye Hughes. Even if the owners want to do the decent thing and give Hughes another season, this would be enough to tip the scales against him i'm afraid. I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about Hughes, because he'll leave with a few quid in his back pocket, and probably walk into another Premiership job (Sunderland?).

Have to agree with you on this...

Hughes in my opinion hasnt done a bad job, but hasnt set the world alight. I am confident that if we stuck with him we would be in the top 6 next year, then pushing top 4 after that..

However..

if an oportunity aorose for our owners to puchase 3 stellar signings that would increase the marketability of the team, as well as the performance, with the requirement of replacing Hughes with a `big name' manager, and given the reasons why our owners bought our club (to increase publicity for thier interests amongst other things), I believe Hughes may be gone..

its not that I agree with it; purely a business point of view.

I agree with this too. Our owners clearly want some of the worlds best players so surely they would want one of the worlds best managers. I really think it's that simple.

Would hate to see superstars at the expense of good youngsters, I'd like to see our club modelled on Barca. Good football with a lot of emphasis on youth.

The thing is with that when you have the status of Barca its all well and good but in this day and age you just can't do it any more. Just like the rich get richer, the better teams have first choice on the better kids?

i agree as long as the younsters are good enough.not so sure ours are ?
