I wrote on the who's died thread that though he's not a household name he is absolutely one of the greats of popular music. Vintage Guitar Mag have thrown up a playlist of some of his songs/playing that will be about as close to doing justice as will be practical.

Booker T who's 81 years young will be in the UK next April.

I later found it but didn’t buy at a very reasonable price on E-Bay.

Yes, our tastes would be diverging at that point although I’d say mine are reasonably diverse now but what I love most has not changed much.

For the record, Roth is anything but a buffoon: behind the clowning around he is one of the smartest guys in rock (albeit not smart enough now to retire), which is one of the reasons I an such a big fan.

That was where my main comment was directed towards, the material and all that accompanied it that was Dave focused. I just wasn't interested.

Was it pure Dave? Absolutely. That just wasn't where my musical tastes were going at the time.

Candy Apple Grey was this bands 5th album and first to a major.
I believe some felt that was a bit of a sell out but madd little difference as it didn't sell much more anyway even with some MTV rotation.
Think you can hear on this single where Bob Mould went with Sugar and Cooper Blue.

The worst gig I ever went to. The international 1 on a wet Monday evening. This song had come out and was clearly the only song anyone in the audience knew.
The 50 or so crowd (self included) stood there motionless as the band (commendably) carried on with a smattering of applause for each song that decreased as the set went on. They went off for the encore. Came back on, played one more tune to again, another static audience before the singer said “I guess this is what you’ve all come for…?” and finally the crowd come to life! Song ends and we all file out into the Monday night rain……

Great movie and song, thanks for nominating.

Penn x 2, Walken, Sutherland, Mary Stuart Masterson, an all-star cast. Been a while since I've seen it, but it was a favourite during that time. Haunting song I had on my shortlist too. One of the best songs I've ever heard from Madonna.

I could only find the version off of the "Paris Music", whatever that is. If someone has a track hack, I'll take it, but that's all I'm finding here.

Maybe someone else in the UK has strong desires to do 1988? There's still time! (joking/not joking)

Well that's a bit arse...if someone can't work it out I'll switch it to Billy Idol's I Don't Need A Gun.
