Stones can do it but gets injured too much. Time for kova to step up. Doesn't seem good enough but we thought the same about rodri when we needed to replace Dino. This is where pep earns his keep as a coach.

Stones is nowhere near good enough with his back to the ball. Its Kovacic, Gundogan, Bernardo and Lewis in that order. It will be a combination of them for the rest of the year.

He can do it, Gundo can do it, Stones can do it, Jack could do it, Foden could do it. Hell, Dias could probably do it, tbf. None of them are going to be Rodders, but every one of them would be light years ahead of Kalvin and maybe better than anyone we can get on the market in January.

That would be the choices depending on injures, form and adaptability.

Jack for his ability to control play would be my choice.

Kovacic needs to be in there on overtime, any time he’s not training he needs to be sat in front of a video player with a couple of the coaches watching and analysing every last detail of Rodri’s game. He has big shoes to fill.

I have faith, and it’s no slight on his efforts so far to say he needs to step it up another level to do so. We need him.

Let’s win it for Rodri.
