Lewandowski should have won it in 2020 and they didn’t even bother with it
Rodri should have won it in 2022
Rodri should have won it in 2023
 
You play Decent for Madrid they win the champs league the media pick one of those players to win it! Thing is Haaland broke all records and they gave it to Messi because he helped his teams when an international competition!

Bottom line it's a corrupt individual trophy

Messi played well in a handful of games to get the last one. A disgraceful decision.

Messi's World Cup exploits fell out of the period for eligible votes for that year, so it shouldn't have even counted.

The best thing that happened during the ceremony was that all the nominees and guests had to sit through a highlights reel of every single goal scored by Haaland that season which went on and on for ages.
