I suspect all the winners find out beforehand. Chinese whispers are unavoidable in ceremonies like this.

The only reason it has been highlighted this year is because a bunch of entitled wankers spat their dummies out and went home crying to their mothers.

Chinese whispers are Chinese whispers mate. Real actually didn't turn up, so how did they know for absolute sure?

This has echoes of everyone knowing the verdict in the 2014 FFP witch hunt against us, before the tribunal had started. It's like we're Blackadder, UEFA are General Melchet & FFP's Speckled Jim... \0/

I wonder if this was the result of some sort of sting, eg someone who leaks info for profit was given wrong info with the rational being that it'd blow up in their face. If so I wonder if they expected the club seeking the inside info to just keep quiet and take their medicine. And if so...lol.
 
The best part is that Madrid did all the PR to convince everyone that Vini had won. And another good thing is it shows there was no corroboration between Ballon d'Or and themselves - giving the award some much needed credibility.

One of the last things we didn't have in our trophy cabinet as our global appeal continues to rise.

I got the impression watching the city coverage that Natalie and Joleon definitely knew he was winning it
