Rodrygo

That makes no sense at all.
We couldn't afford the difference between £68m and whatever Rodrygo costs?
Don’t forget, Rodrygo is asking for a salary of £300k per week — that’s four times what Savio earns! And we’d be tying him down to a long-term contract, which is superstar-level treatment.
Financially, yes, we could afford it if we wanted to. But this wouldn’t be a rational investment. We might be better off keeping room for better opportunities, such as Livramento, Wharton, or Baleba...

Calm down. Of course, if we want, we can buy him. But 100m + 300k for Rodrygo? No, better to spend that money on areas where it’s more needed.
We’ve saved loads of the wage bill with Kev, Walker and most of Grealish off it
And we’ve recruited very well and very frugally so far, both in Jan and the summer
Marmoush probably the biggest earner of those we’ve signed, but like Reijinders I suspect it wouldn’t be crazy money
To put it in perspective , we’ve spent about the same as Forest and Sunderland this summer
We spent in January but that was after a bizarre previous summer where Savinho was basically the only first team signing
We can easily afford it if Pep really wants him

Yes, what I mean is that maybe we’ve set a budget for the Rodrygo deal — rather than pouring in endlessly (even if we could).
Maybe Viana is only willing to spend £70m or £80m on him!

Why isn’t anyone going for him? Isn’t he THAT good? Not 1 bid yet.
Guess my source was right that savinho is going to stay. As expected

As I've said in the past I think Madrid want to sell him a heck of a lot more than we want to buy him.

I think this line that Rodrygo is Pep's dream signing is either greatly exaggerated or completely made up. I am very skeptical when Romano states Pep brings him up in every meeting when transfers are discussed. I doubt anybody in our operation is feeding meeting details blow by blow to Romano.

We would be more likely to go into Europe and find some guy on the rise and pay 60 million for him. Most of us weren't talking about Marmoush last summer.

Agreed. Reduces the injury risk, allows for recovery and keeps competition for places high. Win-win.

With our playing style likely to be much more dynamic and direct we're going to be running a lot more than usual as well. If we want to avoid what the dippers did under Klopp and bottle everything in a week late in the season, we'll need a bigger squad than Pep might typically want.

Benched again tonight
He is not in Madrid's best XI. This is not a surprise. I said on Bluemoon last year that he should be benched for options that provide more balance such as Arda Guler. Seems Xabi agrees. Mbappe, Vini, and Rodrygo just doesn't work.

Not a bad player by any means, quite good really, but definitely overrated due to playing for Madrid. IMO a clear step down from Marmoush, who already isn't a mainstay in our XI.
