Rodrygo

As someone who has watched Rodrygo week in week out for years, I can say he has some of the best touch and technique I have seen, but he is also one of the most passive players I've seen considering his ball playing talent. He disappears for long stretches, and generally is not someone to rely on when the going gets tough. He just doesn't demand the ball or have particular flair and creativity which he can use to unzip a defense with his own effort. Instead he plays very schematic within the team, extremely disciplined and conscientious. Maybe this would be the perfect fit for Pep ball, for certain playing under Ancelotti who allows all the creative freedom in the world was not the most suitable environment for him, he was often lost and confused and it felt like we're playing with 10 players. I'm not sure but maybe we ruined him for good, plugging him in wherever he is needed, to the point that now he's forgotten how to play on the left too.

He has good off ball instincts so he will get into goalscoring positions, but his finishing depends on his mood. And hes moody, make no mistake regardless of him being industrious, he has a big ego and complained about not being on the BDO list or not being mentioned in the same breath as Vini, Jude and Kylian. He's also physically not elite. He is reasonably quick but hes no Doku. He is also a lightweight, and this lack of physicality prevents him from playing upfront. Hes essentially a tweener, a jack of all trades and a master of none. Hes better than Savinho, but worse than Doku and probably Grealish. I would be thrilled if you guys pay 100 million for him, but I honestyl believe thats a slight overvalue. At the same time he might completely rediscover himself with this team and coach, so part of the fee we're demanding is based on potential for this. But I am quite happy we're moving on from him since he never made the leap we expected, never had the breakout season and only contributed sporadically.
All of which is why it's always been a no for me.
Not my money though, and if the powers that be think they can get a tune out of him what do I know

I don't understand.

I don't know what a Bruno Rat is, I'm definitely not Mo Salah, and I really don't understand the reference to a Football Annual.

Can you explain?
No problem.
“Head over Heels” is what Bruno Rat and Salah tend towards especially in the penalty box.
Fordyboy is one of our resident doom mongers.
It’s just something some posters do sometimes - guess the post writer.

For all those yearning for Rodrygo, it’s at the expense of Bobb imo. I’d rather have another year of no trophies and have Bobb playing on the right
I’ve got some bad news for you then mate
You’re a Bobb fan not a city fan.

I’m not even a big fan of Rodrygo but even I know that all that matters is trophies.

When we had Sterling Jesus Mahrez angry because they couldn’t play enough, it didn’t matter because we won the treble.

There’s tons of players, if they want to leave let them, replace them and keep the machine going.

Some players just suit (or don't suit) certain systems/clubs/environments.

I personally don't believe Palmer would be regarded as world class if he had stayed with us. Playing on the wing against packed defences is somewhat different to what he has to deal with at Chelsea. I doubt he would have achieved anything like the same numbers if he had stayed, so it has worked out brilliantly for him.

Same with Savinho (if he goes). He might find playing in the Spurs system gives him a lot more freedom and he goes on to great things. It doesn't mean the same would have happened with us. On the other hand, just because a player doesn't shine with us, it doesn't make him a bad player.

Likewise Rodrygo. Maybe he would fare better with the way we play and it would unlock his undoubted talent. We'll only ever know if it actually happens (same as with all transfers I guess).

In short, stats matter. :) The numbers tell a similar story. He is Marmoush with better technique but less production.
You support Trump. How in the literal FUCK can you say “stats matter”?

Facts/stats mean nothing to you.

Either you live by evidence or you don’t. You don't get to decide it matters for football but not for your life in America.
