Roger Federer retires (in 2 weeks)

Father Time caught up with him, but to watch Fed play someone like Rafa or Djokovic, was like watching the other side of the net playing a different sport.

The other two using power and return of serve, but Fed seemingly never in a sweat and moving like a ballet dancer.

His backhand was a thing of beauty and a tremendous role model.

Enjoy your retirement Fed, with your family and £500m to keep you warm.
I'm a big tennis fan too, going back to the Borg / connors era, federer was the most beautiful and graceful player there was. I like roger have done the grand slam ( been to the grand slam venues that is) my favourite player was Pete sampras, much maligned by ( not clued up tennis fans) who thought he was just a big serve, but he was a brilliant serve volleyer, which he kept true too his whole career. He would even serve volley on his second serve in the French open, hence why he never won it, when he retired it was the end off serve volley tennis imo. Roger is the best player I have ever seen!

Out the ‘big’ 3 and I know it’s not the popular choice, but I do love watching Djokovic- in his prime he just gets to every shot, no matter how down and out he is in a rally or how far off the court … will slide all over the place and throw himself to every ball… pure dedication and drive to win every point.
No argument against Federer being the ‘greatest’ but Nadal and Djokovic are well in the mix

Fully agree with all the eulogies on here for Federer.
As for Nadal, operation puerto says hello.

Sampras, like Fed, was not the personality many wanted them to be.

They did their talking on the court.

The day Fed beat Sampras at Wimbledon was a moment in time, a changing of the guard, so to speak.

There is a reason both men are friends. Fed's idol.

I've had a 'go' at tennis but I've got the wrong kind of wrists! But Roger made an impossible game look ridiculously easy!

I must have had about 50 tennis lessons when I was young. All the boring twat ever told me was…stop with the two handed forehand. Prick. Never even won Wimbledon once, so shows how good a coach he was.
