Roll call for 9 minute protest

I would but I couldn't afford one last year either.
So why aren't you more on board with the protests that are trying to make sure people like you can afford to go again? And why are you posting about the efforts of CityMatters and associated fan groups with such derisive flippancy?

Because, young bob, I have far more important things in my life to deal with or get angry about or embark on affirmative action for. That ok with you?

I would really like to see a roadmap, this is no good if they are only going to raise it significantly at the end of next season, especially for those of us on life support where affordability is concerned

Well done everyone who took part in the protest and supported the protest. Strength in numbers.

It's a start. We can get more concessions from the club.

Let's see what the update is from the Club and City Matters.
I really thank everyone who took the trouble to do this. I have to admit to having been a scab for the first time in my life, City being such a big part of my life I didn’t want to miss any of the game. I feel bad about this so thought I should confess, and hopefully get forgiveness off the 1894 group (eventually!)

That's ok, I've asked the ticket office to apply a special 20% scab tax on your ticket prices going forward :)

For a few months now I have considered what my red line would be. As I've watched various clubs reduce the pensioner discount I decided that was it. If that happened I'd walk away.

With that in mind, I would like to thank all those that took the time to highlight the problem of greed that is afflicting many clubs.
Sadly I don't thank City. If 1894, Alex, the 8,000 last Wednesday and many others hadn't pushed for it, the prices would have gone up.

I will buy you all a beer as a thank you.

It was short notice and not something City fans have had to do for three decades. Our fanbase isn’t used to being against the boardroom, and has got used to ignoring issues even if they have negative effects on our fanbase. So I can see why others didn’t join in.

I have personally been calling to do something about our price rises for over ten years, but there was only me, @jrb and a few others saying it back then. Everyone was in the ‘Mansour and Khaldoon love City and they can do no wrong’ hypnosis that winning trophies does to fans.

Meanwhile, we’ve lost thousands of match going fans!

Just because City have become more successful, doesn’t mean at any point our fanbase has become richer.

Not sure how old you are PC? I had a lifetime of demo-ing against Swales then Lee. After their incompetence it’s hard to hate the current owners and senior managers, but I do think Soriano is a ****, and I agree we have lost thousands of good fans due to him

Exactly mate. :-)

I genuinely think posters like yourselves are great. Fair enough, you didn’t protest, but you acknowledge the effect it had (and importantly don’t try to undermine it).

As an 1894 person who had a small hand in organising the protests, all I’d say is to consider joining in with any future action.

We’ve had a good first step from the club here. But just because our season cards have been frozen doesn’t mean thousands of fans who can’t get a seasoncard aren’t being priced out. The club loves to divide and conquer and they’ll be hoping us SC holders sit back and take our freeze at the expense of fans paying £71 to watch Villa….

The most important thing right now is that the entire fanbase stays together and continues to fight for everyone. You’ve seen it now - our voice is heard by the decision makers. Let’s continue to use it.
