Romeo Lavia

The same posters in this thread are saying in other threads that bobb, mcatee and palmer arent ready to step up to the first team as understudies while clammering for us to sign lavia back after a bang average season with relegated team.

Make it make sense
Once a year I treat myself to a new bit of consumer electronics: could be a console, a new TV, a new amp, a new record player. You get the point. After a day or two I'm already thinking about the new thing and the old thing is just another thing I own.

My guess (complete nonesense) is that we had a straight choice between Lewis and Lavia and choose Lewis.

Nothing to do with Philips or Rodri role.
I'd say its a simple as Southampton came calling and it seemed like good business for Lavia and the 2 clubs.
Several young lads left last season and the same this season.
Shea Charles and Trafford are 2 examples where a club enquired about them and eventually a deal was made.
I think the poor showing last season added to clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea now looking for Lavias services makes us question the decision.
If we had sent him to Southampton on loan we would be in a different situation now.
I am glad we are bringing McAtee and Bobb into this years panel

Obvious decision would be wait for a season and get more minutes under his belt . All parties involved will be happy.

That would take some amount of patience, belief and gambling on your future. Choosing to play in the championship on the off-chance he might get bought back by us to maybe be part of a squad, vs going to a big club like Liverpool now and playing in the PL, Europa (heh), and probably doubling his wages. Quite a dilemma.

If city have an intention to trigger the clause, tell him now and tip your hand?

Agreed but if city thinks he has improved to get enough attention from dippers ,there could be some agreement to bring him home next season.

In fairness, if the club felt they wanted him, and would convince him to come, could just get him in this summer. As someone pointed out, match Liverpool's fee minus the 20% and he could be available for 36-40m. Which is what he would cost next year as well. Much more attractive I would say than wait a year in the championship and pass on opportunities to join big clubs which might not come again.

Saints seem be holding out for 50 all in. Think he'll move though, Liverpool will pay up.
