Romeo Lavia

Guess the writing was on the wall with Phillips coming in.

These transfers always sting a bit but in the grand scheme of things this is a success story for the academy.

There's the obvious financial impact, but we are also churning out talent. There's a pathway to the first team at City - Foden, hopefully Palmer and McAtee soon - but if not, to other top tier clubs. Edozie, Bazunu, Lavia just this summer all got, in my opinion, pretty good moves for where they are in their career.

So even the ones who don't 'make it' here are getting world class coaching and appealing transfers right at the stage when they need to be playing. Looks good for the Academy and the Club.
Darko Gyabi and Egan-Riley as well both got permanent moves to Leeds and Burnley. Looks like over 40 million brought in for them all. Brilliant business as we have a buy back / sell on clauses inserted . This is most definitely the way forward well done txixi

Yep, some questioned the academy but with players now coming thru and playing for the first team and others being sold for decent fee’s, were starting to see the benefit.

We obviously have a reputation within the game for producing well rounded players/people, selling those we deem not quite good enough for our first team squad is becoming a nice little earner!!

Used to always do my head in when the rags got what i thought was decent fee’s for fringe/squad players. We’ve taken this on to the next stage and are getting decent fee’s for players who at best have a handfull of appearances between them. £40 mil this summer alone…

If he was, he wouldn't be on his way to Southampton on a permanent deal.

Livramento was one of the best players in the Chelsea academy but decided he’d rather join Southampton and play regular football than stick around and maybe play the odd cup game for Chelsea

Have you seen him play?
Yes ,regularly.
What's that got to do with my answer to a poster.
He thought he was one of the special ones in the Academy and was surprised they have let him go, the club obviously doesn't agree, contrary to what he or I believe.

Probably the right decision for him at the time with James in front of him!!

Probably a few more to be shifted as well. CFG players like Herrera, Itakura, Couto, sarmiento, Bustos, Moreno, Stevanovic, Ilic, Palmer-Brown etc
Plus academy lads like Fiorini, Rogers, Muric etc

Wasn’t Herrera touted as a £15-20m player?

I didn't say that at all.

If our coaching team don’t think he is ready,we don’t really have an option. None of our ex academy players (bar Sancho at Dortmund) have really set the world alight. We will continue to buy good young players with 2-3 years first team experience. Even a few cup games won’t give players that experience.

Luka Ilić and Erik Palmer-Brown left in Jan/Feb, both signed a permanent deal with Troyes. Itakura is set to move to the Bundes. Still have hope for Stevanović, 1 year into his 2-year loan deal, silky bugger.

We've trimmed the loan army quite a bit in the past 2 years already.
