Yes, Aguero with his best ever return of 33 goals had a fantastic season for us. Whereas Ronaldo with the return of 42 goals and literally had the best year of any footballer in the entire history of football in the past 12 months is somehow on the decline.
He didn't have his best season as an individual player and this is what pisses me off about the whole thing. He was man of the match in the CL final apparently. Go back and watch the game and tell me he's the best player on the pitch. Not a chance. The midfield two of Modric and Kroos have been, in my mind, far more important to their success this season. He's absolutely lethal in front of goal but, as I said earlier, those two completely control games. Even Benzema put in a better performance than him. He's never played in such a good team as this one he's currently in.
The Aguero think was mentioned because you seemed to be preoccupied with the stats and, on that basis alone, Ronaldo's prolificacy has gone down this season whereas Aguero's have gone up.

My mind too. But Ronaldo is so close to that title that I'd be pretty disappointed if City didn't attempt to land him. He's a once in a lifetime player.

Ronaldo will still be a level above Sergio in 3 years time imo, he's a phenomenon.
Cristiano Ronaldo is quite obviously the superior player, that wasn't the point.

I was thinking in terms of achievement.
In the past year or so, Ronaldo has won the Balon D'Or, two Champions Leagues, the league title, the Euros, the Club World Cup and a host of other honours.
And he "only" scored 25 league goals this years because he played 29 games. Not because he was on some sort of decline.

Fuck it. On reflection. I hope he goes to the rags because in a perverse way it'll be even more satisfying to watch them try and catch Pep's team with him in their ranks. Imagine all the fucking hissy fits when Mourinho uses him as a left wing back in his new 622 formation.

In the past year or so, Ronaldo has won the Balon D'Or, two Champions Leagues, the league title, the Euros, the Club World Cup and a host of other honours.
Only one of those is an individual award though. As I said, he's never played in a better team than this and I think those honours go a long way to prove that. Of course, he's been a hugely important part of that team but others have contributed as much, if not more, than that.
I think he's undeniably in decline by his ridiculous standards and not because of his goal scoring. He just has less of an impact outside of the box now.
