Rony Lopes

Isn't the point hough that Rony (and any other youth player), doesn't have to convince the match going fan that he is good enough but the professional coaches. Clearly, they (and I use they, as I don't believe it is just Pellers) are making their decision based on what they see day in/day out.

I don't believe Sterling is your run of the mill 20 year old, he is a special talent and probably got his break by convincing others of this.

At this point in time, our young players havn't given sufficient evidence to suggest they are ready IMO
I am not saying that it is wrong I was just commenting on LC's comparison v Sterling, and the key difference being that Sterling got more game time. I agree it's always going to be harder to get game time at a club like City (although I think we could do a bit more this season, such as league cup, using 1 of the 7 substitute spots for a young player more frequently etc)

It's a shame mate I thought he was one of our real prospects

He was. So is Denayer.

People on Bluemoon never understood that we spent 5 years buying the best young players in the world who don't give a shit about hanging around the bench, and will walk out as soon as it becomes clear that Pellegrini hasn't the bottle to play them.

Rekik and Lopes are not the first and won't be the last. Our "youth policy" is the laughing stock of the country

Decent to get the fee for him, I didn't rate him as much as people on here did.

We do need to start to give players a chance though, a real chance. Hopefully it's just a case of us only just now recruiting the very best youngsters from around the world so it will come to fruition in the next few years

People also on Bluemoon never understand also that to break into the firs team there is a minimum standard. Maybe our academy has not yet got anyone at that standard. All those who will come back and some of these kids are, are not as qualified to make that call as our coaching staff.

As for being a laughing stock of the country - really! there are many young kids in the world who would give anything to receive the coaching we would give them.

I get this perception that many think anyone coming through our academy is a shoe in into the first team. Why are you so sure it is Pellers who doesn't have the bottle rather than PV or others saying these guys arn't yet ready?

To be honest if we keep getting £9m for our decent youth players and keep buying world class players like Otamendi, Sterling and De Bruyne, I'm not complaining.

Aye, one quiet game (by far not the worst player either) and it's time to throw him in the sea. Luckily none of our senior players have ever had a quiet game. Scott Sinclair got more chances ffs and he never did anything even approaching average

didn't say throw him into the sea, thats your words not mine, i was responding to a prevoius poster who claimed he was(can't remember the exact words) ripping up trees
its all mute in his case

Scouting coaching and selling them on for a fee is a good thing if they are not going to make the grade, Chelsea turn over decent amounts of money doing it that way. There is a bench mark to be reached for the first team, if you want to play you listen to what's said and improve your game.

The debate of lack of English players in the premier league comes up because of the need to buy instant off the shelf talent. If your a promising young player you put in the hard yards, listen to the coaches and look after your body whether your English,Spanish, German or from Mars. A lot don't have that mentality unfortunalty they think they've made it when they get their first contract.

Even at clubs where they give young players a chance not many come through that haven't been bought. Stones was from Barnsley for example. Young players need to be of the highest quality to play for us. They clearly felt Lopes wasn't. Hopefully some of our U16s are.
