Pellegrini isn't frightened in giving the kids their opportunity but it is down to his judgement if they have enough qualities for the first team.

He definitely is frightened. Only player he gave a chance was Pozo and that was only because every fucker was injured. Up until now he hasn't played youth cos his jobs been on the line and he hasn't wanted to take the risk. However this season I doubt they'll play because Pellegrini will want to leave his mark, win everything he can before he fucks off and Pep takes charge. I think that Denayer and Iheanacho will get a real chance this season but that's only because they're fucking class and there's room for them. I really do hope Lopes gets a good amount of game time because we'll rue losing him if he gets fed up and leaves.

Exactly. People keep saying he's never done anything for youth at City - who exactly was he supposed to be playing?

Denayer and Lopes were on loan - and they were brilliant loans whoch they came back from as much better players.

He arrived here, and there were no youth players even close to good enough. Now we have 3 who are good enough, he'll play them.

Even last season, when all three strikers were injured, his first decision was to play Pozo at striker. It didn't go so well so he reverted to Milner at false 9 - but his first instinct was to look to the EDS for a player.

He's got a 20+ year career which has consistently featured him throwing great youth players into his teams. Cazorla, Isco, Godin - he's made them big parts of his team at every single club he's been at (with the exception of real where he didn't get a chance).

People will look for any reason to be negative on here sometimes. He's gonna play all 3 of them, because they are good enough and he's a manager who likes youth.

Lopes needs to learn patience.

That's a mighty fine lunchbox.

Even then Pozo was still a goal line clearance from bagging a debut goal.

Not sure about Pellegrini's record with youth though to be honest, exceptional talents like Isco, Cazorla and Godin don't disprove the counter argument much, IMO. He'd be an absolute fool to not utilise talents like that.

Suppose we'll see what will happen in the coming months though, Denayer should definitely be getting some minutes as far as I'm concerned.

You've managed to answer you're own question and in the process you've managed to provide evidence contradicting your opening proposition.
Well done.

Well given that Lopes has actually played a handful of competitive games for City and been outstanding if not man of the match in about half of them, while neither Kelechi or Denayer have even set foot on the field for us in a real game, I can't say I agree with your assesment about him lacking the composure or confidence to play for the first team. To be honest, it's odd to criticise his maturity, composure and confidence, as they are some of his strengths.

Name these handful of games...

The only one where i remember him playing very well was the one against West Ham away in the Carling Cup Semis.

I think if Pellegrini really rated him higher than Iheanacho, Garcia or Denayer, he would have played Lopes just as much. The thing i see with Lopes is, he flutters in and out of games too much. No doubting the potential, but as stated, i just see more in young Iheanacho, seems brimming with confidence everytime he plays. Denayer is by far my favourite though, his composure for one so young is brilliant.

completely agree with this. Lopez may or may not turn out to be a good player, but whilst he showed glimpses in a city shirt, he also looked to be lacking a little. which is of course fine in a youngster. i'd be a lot more confident about us playing denayer and or iheanacho. only my personal opinion of course.

You mean with the exception of Real, where he didn't need to.

That's exactly why you give these kids time on the field, so that they grow composure and confidence. Sometimes it takes kids quite a few games to settle down & start showing what they can do. Pellegrini would rather use 3 fullbacks on the bench last season than Brandon Barker. You're four up with 10 to go & you bring on fucking Kolarov. Just giving players the experience & a run out, could give them the confidence to push on this season, but he did fuck all, not even in cup games, where he played the same tired, half arsed bunch who could barely manage a jog, ironically humilliated by Newcastle reserves.

Khaldoon said in his interview that there would be no compromise on the first team, a young player will only play if he can improve the starting 11, is lopes better than nasri or silva ?

Answer NO

Even though I'm no nasri fan.

If the so called big players are fit they will always start above the youngsters.

Personally I'd like to see them blooded and would love to see denayer lopes and keletchi start at WBA in place of Mangala bony and nasri.

You mean with the exception of Real, where he didn't need to.

With the exception of Real where he didn't get a chance - and he still tried.

He wanted to play Negredo - but Perez bought Benzema and then Ronaldo, which meant there was absolutely no room for him. He did bring through Marcelo, who was 21 at the time, and very much a fringe player, made him a starter. And he brought Ezekiel Garay (21 at the time) back from loan and made him a regular player.

His youth record is fantastic. A couple of season here when no academy players were ready to play in the senior team doesn't change that.
