Rony Lopes

I don't think that he proved at Lille that he was better than the players mentioned. He was up & down. At his best he was better than Navas, at his worst nowhere near as good. But he could possibly become a top player & should be given a chance. If he can't hack it we will soon find out. We don't have to start him in big games or at key moments, just ease him into the setup.
Exactly I would understand it if the players infront of him set the world alight, but Navas nor Nasri did that.

he's better than navas for me, but the other three you mentioned i think will end up being better. The problem for all of our youth at the minute is will they get enough games time. I just dont think pelle will give them enough chances.

I'm sorry mate but what's he done to say he's better than Navas? I like the kid but he's still an awful lot to prove. Potential to be better than Navas but he's not YET.

I would like him to sign a new contract and to be given a chance in staking a claim for a first team spot but If De Bruyne joins then I can understand why Lopes is questioning his future at City.

Look at it like a Sterling situation. Would he have developed into a player we just dropped 40+ million pounds on without a shot in the first team? So he may not develop that way but he very well could. At some point our youth need the chance to play with the likes of Silva and Yaya and Aguero to get that chance to excel.

What's this got to do with my quote saying he's not yet better than Navas?

Sorry, posting on the go and not clear enough.

I agree with you but I think the risk is worth it based on the player's potential versus what we will get out of Navas.

I think that this is more about how shit Navas is than where lopes sits in the pecking order. Navas must go

No worries mate. I agree he needs a few games but if we buy KDB I see him pushed further back. Hopefully we can get him signed up for a few years give him another decent look and he can improve more.

The guy with more assists with anyone else last season?

More assists than Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Milner... that's how shit he was. Despite playing in a team of midgets that seemed to want to all stand outside the box.

Some fans always need a scapegoat though.

Lopes needs to show consistency at reserve level before he is introduced into the first team. Even his loan with Lille was fairly hit and miss. I don't think the lad is ready yet although I wouldn't want to lose him. Denayer however is ready IMO.

If we have De Bruyne as well as Sterling, Lopes is not getting a game in a meaningful match. Yeah, he could go on loan, but when he comes back he's still in the same situation. What this is demonstrating is that only potential world class talents will make the step up to the first team. Rony, unfortunately, is not quite good enough to make it here. Sure, he could be a squad player. But what player with any ambition wants to be a squad player?

A couple more assists than Yaya and Silva but not one PL goal last season. Also he lost possession more than any player last season by hitting the opposition with 90% of his crosses.

what has navas done ? he just has pace. We have a very talented youngster here, risk him leaving by playing navas who is rubbish imo
