Rooney and Webb

I think some are seeing the words Webb, Rooney and rags and being a little irrational. Nastasić booking, poor. Genuine challenge, eyes on the ball, regardless of the time in the game as a yellow should be a yellow whenever. Think he got that wrong.

Did indulge Rooney, but he's far from alone (not saying that makes it ok, it's just not a Webb/rag problem, it's league wide). Other than that I don't think he did too badly at all. On the contrary for as many past times as I can remember, Webb has reffed us very well, by which I mean fair. Fair usually translates to well for us as we're not a dirty team by any stretch and often have large amounts of possession.

That said, even the most bent ref would have had a very hard time turning that game on its head yesterday. We were untouchable until after the fourth went in.

The amount of nonsense that gets posted on here is quite beyond belief. For a good 70 minutes of the game all the decisions went our way. The Nastasic booking at the start and the last 10 minutes they were getting the decisions but for the most part we had pretty much every decisions go our way. Some people post like they've not even watched the game.

You mean fouls were awarded in our favour? Throw-ins etc?

Check out the OP. Am I suggesting any bias towards United? None whatsoever. Perhaps somewhat naively I don't believe that Webb favours certain teams. He does however give big-name players special leniency which goes directly aganst the very basic tenets of the game.

And it's no surprise that it's Rooney either because it always is. Whoever is in charge. Because he's a hothead you see. And he's a household name. And - weirdly and incongruously - because he's still viewed as 'young' and immature.

I don't mind seeing a teenage lad on his debut - who has just gone flying into a challenge - being taken to one side and spared a red for example. But when that special treatment is extended to a decade then something is seriously wrong.

Remember his elbow on Wigan's McCarthy? Or how he was allowed to influence Vinnie's red in the cup?

It happens time and again - same goes too for 'Stevie G' - and I honestly thought Halsey's book last week would change things. Patently I was wrong.

I don't think Webb is a Red. Not at all. I do think he is a star-struck prick.

So if you're going to look down your nose at a Blues view at least get the fucking view correct.

He exceeded my expectations by booking Shrek once.

Two yellows is just unrealistic.

I think the one thing that stood out to me watching it back is when the commentator said that due to past experience, webb rightly turned his back and walked away from rooney, surely it should be the other way round, at no point should webb have to walk away or explain anything to rooney or be matey with the players.

He is their to officiate the game and due to the very nature of that game one set of fans and players will not be happy with his decisions and one set of fans and players will and sure in the hindsight of the game with video replays refs maybe should make statements but during the game they should not be explaining to the players they should be officiating them.

THIS x 1000!!

Saw this too and it left a bit of sick in my mouth.

On the one hand it could be argued to be sensible refereeing. Rooney is a known hothead, his team are getting mullered, frustration is clearly boiling over, and he feels hard done by.
Perhaps sensible to trot away and let him vent his ire out of ear-shot rather than be forced to issue a second yellow.

But then there is the counter-arguements.

1/ Would he give the same courtesy to Suarez for example? If the answer is no then we have to ask why?

Is it because one is Uruguayan and the other English? One is referred to on a first-name basis and the other not?

2/ The sight is utterly unedifying - a ref almost running away from a player goes 'LA LA LA I can't hear you!'

The wiggy twat would have been given short-shrift in Europe but is given carte blanche on English soil.

The game has too much at stake these days, and is just too big, to have such parochial chummy favouritism.

Not even mentioning the fact he booted the ball at Sergio's head. To quote BaconFace: "HE COULD HAVE DIED!" (bollox)

Rooney probably should have been off the pitch but it makes little to no difference. At least this way the Rag tw*ts have no excuses. Other than that, Webb was okay.

I'll let this go now but again just want to point out that it makes no difference only in hindsight.

If he'd inspired a two-goal comeback then it would matter a great deal on here.

How the game went is completely extraneous to what we saw yesterday.

there was a foul on a city player in the piece of play immediatley before whoever was fouled for wooneys goal that webb missed. If he had called THAT foul, we would have kept a clean sheet, which would have been nice.

The comments of Webb showing experience walking away from rughead when he is having a rant at him says it all.

Valencia saw a card for the exact same thing yet rughead gets away with it yet again, just as he does every fucking week.

Toma is spot on.

It didn't have a impact on the game though

I thought he was a bit biased towards Utd.

Also have to say that I was well impressed with Rooney today. He alone amongst the rags can hold his head up high.
Here here.the poor fat fukin inner tube headed granny bangin gypo.
