Rooney and Webb

there was a foul on a city player in the piece of play immediatley before whoever was fouled for wooneys goal that webb missed. If he had called THAT foul, we would have kept a clean sheet, which would have been nice.

Can't remember who (maybe Cleverley) Caught Yaya's heel. Foul but no free kick.

Probably not worth starting a thread over, so I will just post this here:

I am getting a bit tired of the relentless praising of Rooney's performance. For example, in the Telegraph, "Rooney’s performance was a thing of wonder, embellished with a sumptuous free kick that was greeted with an eerie silence. It emphasised his own great jump from outcast to indispensable."

I know they perhaps have to find some crumb of comfort in the pile of shite from the scum on Sunday, but really.

What did the gormless twat actually manage other than the (admittedly quality) free kick? Run around a lot? Is that now "a thing of wonder"??? He was completely pwned by Kompany, offered no goal threat whatsoever, kicked, fouled and abused all over the pitch and that is somehow a masterclass?

Fuck off. He was average at best. It just looked better because he tried and actually ran around a bit. Masterclass it most certainly was not.

Edit: Not to mention, missed a sitter as well.

If Webb favours United, why didn't he send Nasty off towards the end, when he should have got a second yellow?

Because Webb knew he gave him a joke of a first yellow card.

Aside from the way he dealt with Rooney I thought Webb had an alright game. I think he got the Nastasic booking wrong but how many times to you see a ref give one soft booking and then book everyone for everything. The fact he gave Rooney 4 chances before booking him gave Nastasic a bit more leeway if anything.

Have you forgotten? Rooney has scored a few goals in his last few matches. He is therefore on his way to being a United legend and will one day beat Bobby Combover's record for most embarassing hairstyle.

Yup, that's about right.

I am not saying he had a terrible game. He played OK. Quite well perhaps. But a fucking masterclass? Give me a break. Paul Dickov would have impressed more had he played for them on Sunday.

Was going to say the same and it took 6 pages for somebody to mention it. Nasty could of and should of had a second yellow. However as pointed out I think the fact the first one was very soft made it easy not to give.

I have said this many times before if Rooney was not English he would be getting booked a lot times more than he does. Could you imagine if that was Balotelli acting like Rooney did yesterday he would have been sent off within 10 mins for harassing the referee.

I have to agree with the OP that Rooney should have been booked earlier but IMO Webb seemed to ref the match well. I thought he gave us more than he gave them.
