am I nitpicking as well? Certainly, I've left out the 0 goals in 4 games in 08/09 against Arsenal for example, but in the last 3 full seasons, in every competition, international, Premiership, Cups, Europe, whatever, he's scored 82 goals in the last 3 calendar years. Does anyone match that? Messi perhaps.

He scores in big games, and he scores often.

Wayne Rooney has told his Manchester United team-mates that he WILL consider a move from Old Trafford to neighbours Manchester City.

The United striker is considering his options after telling the club that he will not be extending the 18 months of his current contract.

It emerged last night that there is real interest from City, who will have to pay Rooney £230,000-a-week to broker a deal.

That would make him the highest paid player in the Barclays Premier League. United are unlikely to offer more than £150,000.

ok, ok, if he came I think the following rules must be set out that he's contractually obliged to follow:

a) he follows a strict dieting regime administered by the club and gives up the drinking(at least to a moderate level) and smoking.

b) he remains completely and utterly faithful to his wife and child, no more of his antics WHATSOEVER.

c) he stops his nasty antics on the pitch towards refs and other players and sets a good example.

d) he sings the national anthem(ok pushing it a bit but yeah he should do).

e) he plays like Tevez ;).

f) he comes out and publically admits he never liked the rags and only went to them because they were a successful club and he wanted the money and to win trophies.

g) he beats the shit out of fergie and Ratface in his first City derby.

Then I might, just might consider accepting him.

Whoever is paying his wages should care. No professional athlete has ever abused their body the way Rooney has and had a long career.
Not many footballers have top flight careers lasting 16 years and the ones that do look after themselves. Rooney has never looked after himself and he's already been at the top for 8 years. He can't have that much left in him.
