Rooney (MERGED)

assuming he doesn't sign a new contract by then, the reaction by all parties involved 10 November will be very, very fascinating.

I have not read too much on all this today but i have seen many sensationalist headlines like 'Rooney is desperate to leave United' and 'Rooney would join city' etc but as there actually been ANY quotes from Rooney or Manu, Ferguson etc?.
Also i just read a few pages of this thread and i like how Rooney has gone from a 'fat, overrated granny shagging Shrek' to worldclass in the space of a few hours (or since that link with City), some of you make me laugh sometimes.

Rooney, United/Ferguson/Gill would all weaken their position by confirming anything, so why would they?

People who expect quotes all the time fail just as hard as people who believe everything without quotes. In a multi-million pound business, you keep your cards close to your chest.
So in other words, all these sensationalist headlines are pure garbage at the moment.

Also for people who think tevez wont get on with rooney, me included, just found this article on the interweb.

Sorry if already posted

Manchester City star Tevez: Wayne Rooney is a better player than Ballon d'Or winner Messi
Published 23:00 01/12/09 By Darren Lewis

Lionel Messi may have lifted the Ballon D’or but Carlos Tevez insists the best player he has played alongside is Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester City striker has overlooked the more prolific Cristiano Ronaldo and the more mesmeric Messi – having played with both - in favour of street-fighter Rooney, whom he believes has a similar background to his own.

Tevez said: “I’ve had the honour of playing with some great players.

“At United, I had Cristiano in my team and obviously I have Messi in the national team.

“At Boca Juniors I had striker Martin Palermo for a team-mate – he was very impressive. He was the one who put two goals past Real Madrid in Japan.

“But the one I like the most is Rooney. He has everything. He’s very complete.

“Plus we share the same humble origins. Although the humbleness he experienced growing up in Liverpool was obviously a bit more bearable than Fuerte Apache in Argentina, where I grew up.”

Tevez is set to start in tonight’s Carling Cup quarter-final and is ready to seize the chance to convince Mark Hughes that he can be a regular starter.

City's new hero has also revealed that he's a fan of two of Manchester’s other most famous exports – Coronation Street and Oasis.

He said: “I watch Coronation Street now and then. I do like it. I don’t understand some things because of the language barrier, but it seems very good.

“Obviously I listen to Oasis. I really like their music. I met the Gallagher brothers when I first arrived at City.

“They seemed like really good guys and we were on the same wavelength, in tune with each other straightaway.

“I like their music and they like how I play.”

Nah there is something in it but if Rags offer him somewhere near his desired wages 200K a week i think he will stay - on the other hand United will only want to pay the minimum to keep him - game of poker going on me thinks just cant see the rags letting him go - but the do ned the money

If Bobby, Marwood et al are in favour of this signing, with their inside knowledge of Tevez's mindset and future intentions, then I'll go along with their decision.
Rooney is an Everton lad through and through and I don't have a problem with that.

I think Tevez reaction could be very influential in what happens assuming Rooney does indeed leave the rags - Tevez for me everytime if it was one or the other

No. It's pretty obvious that Rooney's people went talking to media 'off-record'. You can tell that by how widespread the stories are. These aren't just the usual muppet sources.

There's smoke, we've seen it with our own eyes, we just haven't ascertained how big the fire is yet.
