He was different class in Portugal, you're right mate. He's been piss-poor in Tournaments ever since. Not a big-game player in the main.

He was a great player back then but then he got comfortable once the big money came in and just stopped trying. I don't think he's given 100% for the rags in like 5 years yet they still suck him off and won't hear a bad word said about him. It was quite astonishing how good he was in that tournament. I think we would of made it to the final if he hadn't gone off injured vs Portugal
What happened to him after that is quite surprising really he joined the rags and has been good but lost all that flair he had as a youngster that seemed to single him out for greatness
