Seems inevitable

I think there's a real rift between club and player and the London clubs are his main option. Can't see Rooney learning a foreign language
How's he gonna get on in London, then? He'll never learn cockney.

I can't see how Rooney moving to Chelsea is going to be a good outcome for us. He's going to strengthen any team he goes to - it would benefit us more if he stayed with the Rags where he's clearly unsettled.
Exactly what i've been saying. If there was any chance at all of us getting him, we should do it in my opinion.
Who would he be better than in our starting 11? He isn't going to come to sit on the bench.

Yep, which is why I really don't want him to go there. Up top is in my opinion his best position and with Mata, Hazard and Oscar feeding him, if you'll pardon the pun, he will be deadly. The only thing they need is a top draw forward and with Cavani and Falcao going elsewhere I think they are banking on him a bit. If we're talking just cash here I think we were right to turn Chelsea down. Hope we send him abroad.

If we got him fitter and leaner than he has been in the previous two seasons, and sustain both of these aspects, he'd be better than Guidetti, Edin and Negredo. However, as a physical specimen/athlete i think he has started to decline and his peak was his early-mid twenties. Unless United haven't been dealing with him properly with regards to injuries - they've done it before with Hargreaves and Liverpool did it with Torres, both clubs ruining world class players.

As if i've thought that far ahead!

Two years ago I wanted him but I wouldn't have him in front of Kun, Silva or Jovetic.

You have to remember that he started at 16, football wise, he is the wrong side of 30 in real terms and he is not exactly Giggs like in looking after himself. He has peaked, still a good player and if he was going to accept a squad role I'd have him. But he wouldn't and he isn't good enough to get in our first 11 in the formation we will play.

Sorry mate, dunno why but in my mind i was thinking about the position he played in. Rooney is better than a lot of City fans give him credit for, it's just his fitness now that's the issue for me and when you look at the effect on a game players like Milner Clichy and Zaba have due to their unrelenting work rate and fitness he'd be lower down the list than them. Then we have the new midfield sigings, if Yaya trimmed down and got back to full form, Kompany and Aguero better than him...you could argue he's not actually better than any of our starting XI because - and this comes from a United fan i work with - "after an hour Rooney is spent".

But is that because he's not as good or just not fit?

I think If Chelsea can guarantee him tripple nectar points at the pie and mash shops he'll submit a transfer request.
