Taught my son he is Shrek a fat waster etc when wearing rags kit but is Wayne Rooney when he plays for England. Simple enough we are english and want our national team to do well. That means picking players to get the right result regardless of whom they play for. He might not have had the best of games but it's the team performance that matters Capello is doing a good job

Yeah, I feel much the same, but I don't look upon Owen as a rag - he's a mendicant footballing mercenary. I suspect he won't go to South Africa. There are better alternatives. Owen's time is gone.

I despise the scouse shrek twat. Don't want him to play for England as it makes me just want to watch someone snap his ankles and that isn't very nice.

Luckily most games I watch that feature Wayne Rooney I somehow manage to miss his world class talents for the entire 90mins.

People slag Robinho but Wooooney goes missing in practically every game I witness. He's also a twat and a cheat and even a nob.

I just think he's seriously overated. But this is what happens when you join the rags, you suddenly become the greatest player in the universe.

It's nothing to do with the fact that he plays for the most detested side in the history of world football, I just genuinely feel his contribution to the England games he's played in over the past few years have been below average. And how he justifies a regular place in the starting line-up absolutely baffles me.
