Ross Barkley

I remember Barkley when we played Everton: He was standing in the middle of the pitch and watching our David leading the show. THe week before the media were all about Barkley this , Barkley that. THis is the problem with English media, one good performance and you become world class player. This is called "Despair".

All fair comment,i guess we'll have to see how Barkley develops. However, youre right,a 'proven' set up as above is what we need right now.

I didn't mean to belittle your opinion, apologies if that's how it came across.

Barkley is an attacking midfielder, not box to box. He may well develop more into that role, but he's only played 10 top flight games!!

We have the fully fledged version of him already, James Milner.....

Give over, he's not good enough.....

My point in one!
He started off as a bright attacking midfielder and now....

I kind of see your point, however hazy it's worded but Milner for going on 5/6 years has been deployed as a wide right player, barring 6 months of the season at villa, he was a block purchase in the vain of swp to Chelsea, prevent your competitor from purchasing, Barkley is already showing great potential way and above milners but I wouldn't be going knee deep just yet!!!

Fair point, although Milner was played all over the place by Leeds.
As others have eluded to, Barkley doesn't seem to be to have it between the ears. I could be wrong!

ARent you kind of doing the same thing though, generalising a player ???. so because of one game hes now overhyped or not good ??. He been brilliant all season and he's only 19. I have watched most of evertons games and he has been the best player on pitch most games

I'm only saying that the media should leave young players alone. Let them develop their skills without putting pressure on them. Look at Januzaj, He had one good game V Sunderland , then became quiet and worse he starts diving.

I see Barkley as a box to box type,Gerrard like..... surely just what we're looking for?

I have high hopes for Jovetic and I think he will provide more balance to the team than Nasri, their talent imo, isnt far apart.

Coleman,i think he's the best rb about at present - I might be going mad?? who knows.....

I agree with you on Barkley as he can play the box to box or attacking midfielder role.

Also agree with Jovetic, watched a lot of him at Fiorentina and when he gets a run of games he will be class. Although Nasri is class and recreating his arsenal form at the moment so may be difficult for him to force his way in.

Coleman...? Yes he is playing well at the moment, and the press are praising Everton (rightly so), but to say he is the best RB at present is crazy!
Surely with Zaba and Micah we have 2 of the best right backs in the premiership and Coleman at 25 years of age would not be a step in the right direction in my opinion.

The kid is very good. Let no one take that from him. Very good. And could be our future star if we went for him now and nurture that talent. But for sure, there is great talent there.

I have to agree with this. He had a fairly good performance against Ramsey and Arteta, neither of whom are the best defensively or put him under huge amounts of pressure. It's a bit like the sudden love for Wilshere after his fairly good performance against Brazil. Barkley has shown world class potential and could definitely be a star, but he is not there yet.

There is no comparison between him and Milner except for both be well developed at a young age. Barkley is leagues above Milner when it comes to talent and could become a world class player. Never was the case with Milner. He was just very developed for his age and never thought he had a great scope for improvement not so with Barkley.

I previously said that Wilshere did not deserve the hype after the Brazil game, but he certainly deserved it before his injuries. He was arguably world class then already. Wilshere at 19 was putting in superior performances to Barkley against the best midfield in the world. Here is a comparison between the two performances.
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiCDV0mQAX8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiCDV0mQAX8</a> Barkley against Arsenal.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP_pCG9Cmio" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP_pCG9Cmio</a> Wilshere against Barcelona. Arguably the best midfield the world has ever seen.

Slight difference in that Wilshere was playing deeper, but look at the insane pressure he was put under every time he got the ball.

Who will he replace in our current starting Eleven ?
