Ross Barkley

He will be a rag player within 2 months ......... they are the only ones that can afford him under the new rules

Unfortunate but probably true. They will miss out on the majority of targets as they are a shit team not in Europe. They will pay way over the odds for Ross around £60m and sell him as the best thing to happen to the team in the last 100 years. They will show this as the evidence that they are still a massive club with 1b fans in Singapore with a thousand year waiting list for tickets. After all they have not sold enough season tickets yet.

Let them pay upwards of £40 million for him

No way is he ready to play week in week out just yet, he still needs another season of being taken in and out of games

Look at Rooney, similar situation to Barkley, and for the last few seasons he's had injury problems

Could be a case of too much too soon. Best thing for him would be to stay at Everton i don't think he's ready for a big money move just yet

He looks to me like the real deal.
He walks past people as if they are not there.
He is a big lad but very quick.
Reminds me of Gazza .

I hope we bust a gut for him 2015.
He will fulfil all his dreams with us.

He stood out for me in our game recently and I said then and still think he would be a great replacement for Toure. If I was City I would give Everton a down payment of £10M now send Rodwell back to them on Loan for free and pay the rest next year.

He is still young and a little inconsistent, but the boy has real talent.

Just watch the game against Everton away again. That is what he's capable of.

I can see the comparisons with Gazza. Big strong lad, but quick as anyone. He glides past players like they're not even there and is comfortable with either foot.

He receives the ball as well as anyone in this country since Paul Scholes.

If our central midfield options were Fernandinho, Fernando, Barkley and Javi Garcia next season, I'd be delighted.

Agree he looks a great player. We have restrictions that would mean we have to buy over a number of years or games played. Yes he is worth loaning back to Everton for one more year.

Gazza not a chance, nothing similar between these two at all.

Every now and then there is a player who breaks into a team age 16-20 who you just know is going to be world class. The last English one was Rooney, United poached him at 18 and he went on to have 10 years with them at the top. Barkley is the same class, barring injuries and it all going to his head, he is going to be a top top player and we can't miss out (and he's English and home grown)

FFP might dictate we do.

Could be right, think we have a 49m cap don't we? I just feel with looks like Lescott, Richards, Rodwell, Sinclair, Barry all going, any signing should be a homegrown one to fill our quota of 8 homegrown.

Don't need 8 this year only 5. If we spend the 49 on Barkley we have nothing for a CH, GK & CM. Those are the priorities not a #10. To me he's not ready to play for us next year and it would be a real waste to fork over our entire transfer budget on 1 player that's not ready to play like a 40m player who will then get tortured in the media because he's not living up to his potential and we aren't playing him enough. Likewise it would be a real waste to use our transfer budget and then loan him back to Everton. Better to leave him there where he'll get the playing time he needs to develop and revisit the idea next off season. Everton aren't going to sell him this summer unless we make a stupid offer for him. Will still probably take a stupid offer next summer but we won't have to worry about the FFP cap next summer.

I really rate him highly but I felt the same over Rodwell before he came to us and Jones when he was at Blackburn. They are the only two players who have reminded me of Lakey and I discussed Rodwell with Lakey (Blue Ripple) when he used to post on here.

You just never know at this age with only a season or so behind them.

Jack Wilshire was supposed to be the new Gazza - I still haven't seen it.

Luke Shaw? - Wayne Bridge was fantastic when he broke into the Southampton side but didn't push on. Is Shaw going to be the new Kenny Sansom or another Wayne Bridge ?

We just can't buy everybody. Let someone else take the gamble and if he is turns out to be a combination of Gazza, Hoddle and Bell then you can all blame me.
