Roughest grounds you've been too and biggest scraps!

cant believe some of the comments about my beloved Ninian park!! It wasnt that bad was it surely!!???!!

Ive only ever seen trouble there when certain teams came down, Millwall the worst, then Leeds in 2001 when we beat them in the fa cup, reading and stoke also quite tasty, as too are bristol city in the "severnside" derby.

and also some small mickey outfit from down west wales of which the name i cant seem to recall at present.......they play in white and have a goose as their mascot

i miss ninian park. Last of the old skool grounds, all crumbling terracing, no scoreboard, portacabins for toilets, asbestos filled concrete corrugated roofing, wooden bench seating, "bluebird" pasties, barbed wire fencing...........great times

I think that team (SWANSEA) will batter your lot next year.... Well established Premiership team with a great manager.. Good too see Cardiff finally make it past the line and finally get into the prem, after looking so close for the past few seasons! - I'm sure you'll all have a great time

-- Mon May 20, 2013 4:11 pm --

Never had any trouble at away grounds Wolves was a right shit hole

It still is mate!

The stands and pitch is fine now it's just the facility’s inside that makes it a shithole :-)

Just the place in general is grim, and my mate who's had a season ticket for god knows how many years there will be the first to tell you Wolverhampton is a shit hole, and is the exact reason he only goes back to watch football and chooses to live elsewhere..

As for the older generation 60 plus these grounds were pure evil, forest, Leeds, stoke, Sheffield united and Newcastle, the most frightening was Newcastle when we played there the year after we had clinched the league, after the game which we lost 1 nil to a Wynn Davies header 89 flipping minutes it was pure violence at which I have never seen since at a football match, the usual city suspects mostly from gorton area really stood up and gave it some real vigour, I joined the paras after that and thought many a time how did I get out if that unscathed.the violence in those times were mostly a free for all inside and outside.

Bloomfield road Blackpool 1999.I went to the toilet and it was pitch black. It was like boarded up house rubbish.

Battle of Bramhall Lane ?
Threatened with a meat hook in the shed at Chelsea.
Leeds always naughty.
West Ham, Millwall, scouseland.
Barnsley one year was fun.
Stoke mentioned.
Remember a police escort at Newcastle and the geordies mingled with the City fans. Stabbing a few then running off.
Snottingham Cup replay at Wembley.... real hard cases, same as rags picking off the loners.
Derby was always tasty.
Worst place has to be York away, nearly trampled to death by the millions leaving the ground at the end.

Leeds every year - I went by coach purely cos I thought it was easier to get back to after the game than the trip to the station, always a good atmosphere but they were crackers.
At home there was one game against spurs where there were running battles across the back of the Kippax and up and down Thornton Road and all the windows on the match buses to Belle Vue got absolutely smashed to bits while we were sat on them just about to set off.

I remember Bramall Lane. Followed a group of City fans into the ground mistakenly assuming they were going into the away end. I remember them giving me a funny look which I later realised must have meant "you don't look up to this"

Birmingham City (think it was 1975/76 ish) is the worst place I have been....Had to leave at half time and the fuckers were still waiting for us. Managed to walk through them as my mate ( a well known lad from Leve) had robbed a Brum scarf so he put that on and we got back to the coach safely.

Leeds walk back to the station was always bad but I dreaded trips to Everton and Liverpool more due to their stabbing and slashing reputation. Quite relieved to get an escort back to Lime St if I'm honest!

Arrived at Euston to go to Spurs once and we got sussed straight away (these lads were fucking huge), was threatened with all sorts if we went to the game. Got on the tube and then decided to fuck the game off!!

I'm a young lad, so i never really see much, or, haven't at all until yesterday; there was a scrap in the south stand, just two blokes full on whacking each other. Not sure how it even started to be honest

Nothing much in UK in 40 years, but did get a bit scared at Athletic Madrid (not v us) years ago when they got relegated and starred ripping up the ground.

Saw a lively game in Harare where I felt a bit nervy as well, and toilets at the Vetch were also very "bad" in their heyday, but at leadt you could smoke

Think it was Spurs or Chelsea at Maine Road when we ambushed them after the match. Like a war zone all the way back to town.

Everton away was always dodgy. Got bricked on the way into the ground

Leeds at home (think it was new years day)

Bolton v Chelsea at Burnden around '77

And us away at Blackpool

FAC 1984?

sounds about right.

-- Mon May 20, 2013 6:09 pm --

Oldham away just about every year - not particularly rough but always complete and utter bedlam - I remember 1 year when there were Blues literally everywhere in the ground except a small tier 2 seated area down 1 of the sides; next thing a big fuck off ladder appears from somewhere and a load of Blues went up it and took over the seats, funny as heck

-- Mon May 20, 2013 1:23 pm --

another bad one was Everton away in 1981 fa cup (quarter final?) 2-2 draw, Paul Power equalised late on. About 14k City fans there but utter bedlam afterwards, Everton fans were really up for it, genuinely scarey where I was

Went in away end for this. split down the middle, charge and counter charge. Coppers left everyone to it.

Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup , early 70's at their place , was a real bad one too ....... Forest had a nasty crew in those days and they were well up for trouble ..... we lost 4-1 and the Forest fans surrounded us in one corner of the ground , very intimidating ..... plenty of trouble outside after the game.

In the following round they went to Newcastle and the game was held up because of serious crowd trouble , a few fans were stabbed.

The Hyson Green Jackets in the 80's

''We're Man City,we'll fight with ourselves!''....Lol!

Every away game was dodgy in the hoolie days and usually the small grounds you least expected it to come on top could be bad.In scouseland the coppers hated you as well and some of them had those big sticks and would whack you with them.Anyone who complained or tried to ask for help if they had been sussed were told,''Fuck off la you shouldn't have come to Liverpool!!''

If that was in the late 70's I got caught right in the middle of the mayhem. Four of us got chased for fucking miles and my mate got caught and knocked out by a muscle-headed Spud brute with a Mohican & bovver boots and kicked to fuck by the rest of the shit-houses.

I can look after myself one on one, but there was 4 of us being chased by what looked like half of London shouting 'kill the bastards'! I've never been so shit scared in my life.

It was a couple of years before I had the nerve to go to another match again. I've never understood why people choose to behave this way...... its a game of football FFS not war.

Villa for me after the 5-1 away win when White scored 4...........we left the ground and found ourselves in the middle of a mob of Villa who proceeded to punch and kick us like their lives depended on it...............absolute mayhem with 10 of us in a "pwoper nawty" 20 minute running battle back to our mini-bus. I don't normally get involved in this sort of stuff but it was a real adrenaline rush and I am ashamed to say I loved it (no one got badly hurt)!!!

Looks like we've got ourselves a Danny Dyer wanna be here! :P

Sounds like it
