Roughest pub

Any remember the Queens in Ashton, the floor was so sticky blokes used to lose slip on shoes, the carpet had the consitency of pitch and the d.j. was an old bloke playing '45's on a dansette.
There was no toilet in the mens it got broke in a fight and the landlord Mick McGinty never replaced it,a mate of mine ran into his sister in there once ,no big deal except she was 13 at the time.
Another time a bloke got slashed, so the coppers locked everyone in to interview us,we helped a bloke climb out of the window to meet his bird and he landed on the roof of the police van parked outside,we could hear him screaming inside as they laid into him for damaging the roof.

What about the silver screen, used to love that place.i dont think salford has one nightclub anymore.

aah, now i can show my youth. i was never allowed to go when my brother and sister used to go on a friday night. i used to get a quid to go to shop with instead. a wham barm, a packet of transform-a-snacks, a 20p mix, blah blah blah......

I collapsed pissed and fell asleep on the dancefloor in the Screen, just one of many fond memories of that place.....

The Rainbow rooms was the other club nearby......

how bout the rovers return...Hilda ogden laying into stan with a rollin' pin...or Bet lynch decking Jack duckworth...fuckin' brutal place

the stop and rest in staly is a proper mans pub....always a good atmosphere but it could go off at any minute and usually did. the feathers in ashton was lively back in the day as was queens like the guy said in a previous post.the one in town that stands out was the ducie arms(?),full of paddies and gypos. as it stands now,iv heard the beau geste in ashton is still rough as fuk as it was when i played pool for them years ago.

Little bit off geographically, and nothing to compare with the war stories on here, but I am from Cheadle Hulme, so you'll forgive the tourism.

original Junction, conway and greyhound were more than lively in their day

The Greyhound has not long been demolished.

Has anyone been in The Drum in Stretford?

Once
Walked in saw all the rag flags on the wall, walked straight back out and went into Rileys across the road

I can think of many i've had the pleasure to drink in.

There is one which someone here might be able to help me out. Im sure there was a boozer called the Kings Arms on Oldham Street or somewhere near there. I have checked google street view and cant see it, although there is one called Gullivers bar which looks similar and might have changed its name from the Kings Arms. Full of characters in there.

Bowling Green in Ashton

The Midland (used to be in Gorton on Hyde Road) went in there one night and someone got shot.

The Goat on Scotland road in Liverpool. Used to go on in there with the Droylsden branch before we played either scouse team

Used to play Nelsons Tavern from Limeside at Footie and used to come across some right nutters playing for them, got told the pub was a no go area. Same story with the Hoppole in Ashton

The Billy Green pub in Collyhurst was one of the pubs on roughest boozers on Sky 1.

Looks like a bit of a 'yernited boozah'. Would you be alright in there on Derby day in City colours??

back in the seventies, the benchhill used to have collections for the 'bhoys in belfast,'.It kicked off one night and the guy arrested broke a chief super's leg as he got out of his car.Next time i saw him was when he was chucking slates from the roof of strangeways and waving to the cameras. The greyhound in partington was a 'travellers' pub, casual violence was the norm,no place for a quiet drink. It's no wonder a pub is shutting every ten minutes, their time has been and gone.
