Roy Bailey

In my memory it wasn’t total silence. It seemed to take ages for a doctor to get on the pitch from wherever he was in the Main Stand. I was in that stand too and everyone was shouting at the doctor to hurry up as the players got increasingly agitated and Lakey started fitting.
Yes I was in Block H it was an awful frightening experience it seemed to take forever

Remember Lakey swallowing his Tongue.

You could cut the atmosphere that day with a knife.

I dont think i have ever felt a similar experience to that at a game to this day.

Poor Paul was always in the wars.

I remember a young Paul Gascoigne taking the piss out of his Ears,i thought he was going to batter him.

I remember Lakey swallowing his tongue, it was horrible. I couldn't concentrate on the game after that. It might be my memory playing up but I'm sure that Bryan Robson swallowed his tongue as well at the next home game in the derby. That wasn't nice either.

Don’t think so mate we where in the championship ( division 2 ) when Lake swallowed his tongue , we went up that season

Peter Reid doesn’t strike me as the sort of man who is generally impressed with professional qualifications. I think he either likes you or dislikes you - and there’s no shame in being in either camp. Probably no rhyme nor reason to it either.

That's probably all it was. Nothing Roy did wrong.

First ever City tracksuit that, gutted when that nylon Umbro detailing started to fray on the bottoms .

Edit, actually may have been the one before that, don't remember the white waistband on the top, shoddy workmanship anyway.

True story..was joint club doctor at Gillingham, two of us shared duties..first day on my own had my best togs on to impress the directors. Cant remember who, but the visitors scored against Gillingham just before half time..was in the directors lounge having a coffee when some guy runs in saying someone has collapsed on the pitch..it was half time and thought as its my first day they are pulling my leg as all players were off the pitch..after it became clear it was no joke, ran out in front of the fans and a ball boy who had epilepsy got so upset by the goal he was having a seizure..he was fine thankfully.Directors ribbed me mercilessly. Never wore a suit again after that.

Going back to Lake..was driving home from work early one day. My younger son told me his brother had collapsed. Was home at crazy speed down the M20 and seeing him thought he had died, grey and gasping .After 13 minutes of resus the ambulances and paramedics arrived.Another 20 minutes of resus he just came round. Has a cardiac problem that people like Muamba died from, but St Thomas's in London have been superb. To this day,I thank God I was there for him,my greatest achievement. He is a Blue and met Colin Bell with me.
Sorry for blathering on.
