Roy Hodgson - A Ray of Sunshine in all the Gloom

Always liked Roy. Never got any backing at the Dippers and this disgraceful Media agenda in favour of Twitcher will cost him the England job.

Do he do well with the Swiss?
If so I'm amazed, his methodical, robotic football would require an incredible amount of contact with players (easy, not that kind).
I'd love to see him manage England, but for the above reason I can't see him succeeding, but since when was that a criteria.

On the other hand, if he could make it work, it might be great. On international duty, English players can't make good decisions with the ball. Having them premade might be a fantastic thing.

The gobshite media should be on their knees kissing the arse of Man City in whatever guise it takes. Why?Well without us the title race would have been over months ago and nobody would have watched their programmes or bought their papers as there would have been zilch interest, the ungrateful cunts!

What so on the eve of playing us he didn't say that we are a load of shit and have bottled the run in big time? That is a surprise.

Manager in praising next opponents shocker ;).

Manager in giving an honest opinion shocker :-)

It's amazing how whenever a manger tells it as it is a huge number of people seam to think it must be some kind of ruse to upset the opposition. It's pretty much always just the guy giving an honest opinion. But that's too boring for a lot of people.

If the players at Liverpool had ever given Roy a chance, they would be higher in the table than they are now. They practically quit on him from the first day just because he was hired by Hicks and Gillett.

Such tools, willing to follow a 'legend' to mid-table but kick a proven manager out of the club.

Roy on Mario - ''I think its good for the newspapers that Mario exists but I think theres a lot of hype around that neither he nor his club deserve.''

I'm really liking Roy - is he trying to talk himself into Bobbys shoes next season?

Terry Connor on Mario - ''He's one of the best ive seen in the two years he's been here, one of the best players, one of the best forwards ive seen, but with that comes other things. It's whether you feel there's value in having Mario here with the other things that surround him.''

Roberto Martinez on Mario - ''One of the best, potentially one of the best footballers in world football but obviously you need to work, it's not an individual sport you need to work as a team there are certain rules and codes of conduct and if he can overcome that it will be a fantastic story because he's got the potential to be one of the best in world football.''

Managers NEVER criticise their next opponents for fear of motivating the opposition players to make him eat his words. Imagine if Hodgson had said that he thinks City are a team full of bottlers who've blown the title. Would just serve to provoke the team and give his side a much tougher game. So they say nice things that couldn't possibly offend. They all do it.

He's not the only one with that view. But he's the only one who's expressed it. Don't forget that the "pundits" are paid the stir the pot to build up the hype. Sadly too many blues fell for it.

We've had a very good league campaign, we're over 10 points up on last year. We got 10 points in the group stage of the chumps in our first season in it. We suffered the Teves debacle, at the same time as Yaya went off to the ACN and Vinny was red carded and banned for a good tackle. At the same time as Mad Mario got his ban and Dzeko forgot how to play.

All that and here we are second in the league and just a few points away from securing it. And as I'm an eternal optimist it's not mathematically impossible .................... well you know what I mean.
If he's the only one who has expressed that view how do you know he isn't the only one who holds that view? That is assuming that it even is his view and that he isn't just churning out the usual pre match platitudes. Not that I give a flying shit what he thinks of us. He could think we are better than Barcelona for all I care, it is meaningless.

Now that's very tangential. Funnily enough, I heard one of his players recently say that he is the most positive man in football and always thinks his team can win.

Briefly, he is proven as an international manager and I'd go with him. 'Arry had a lot taken out of him after the trial, not so much the England speculation, and he doesn't seem like a particularly well man to me.

As for Liverpool, my ex-Koppite wife always says he wasn't right for them. I tell her that they have old Geordie disease [ref. KK] but just look at them now...
