The FA was plunged into a fresh race storm after their only black board member broke ranks to criticise chairman Greg Dyke for the lack of diversity in his new commission.

In a week when England’s World Cup qualification was overshadowed by the Roy Hodgson ‘monkey’ controversy, the head of the FA must now face huge questions about the processes he has employed the look into the future of the English game.

Heather Rabbatts, the first female director at the FA, has written to Dyke to express her concerns but has gone a stage further by also making that letter public.

2 words love, and the last ones off.

Former England defender Sol Campbell has criticised the lack of diversity on the Football Association commission set up to find ways of improving the national team.

The eight people named so far on FA chairman Greg Dyke's panel are white.

"I wouldn't mind if they had some black players in there, black players who have actually done something for club and country," Campbell told BBC Sport.

"Football is a diverse game and that should be reflected in the committee."

2 words Sol and the firsts ones Fuck.

They're not wrong though are they? Especially as the commission has been described by it's own members as 'diverse'. I expect they will make an effort to be more inclusive in the future, which is why she's done it I expect.

If they are good enough or bright enough and have the qualifications and they want the job they will get the job. You can't give someone a job because of there colour
Not suggesting for a minute that they should give anyone a place simply because they are black. Nor am I thinking that Greg Dyke selected the members of the commission based a on a prejudice, but if he had made his selection with diversity in mind to ensure the widest possible set of skills and experiences rather than the random approach he appears have taken, against advice it would seem, then there would be no issue. Not trying to be PC, just common sense.

Yeah but.....No really ...

It's a fact that a lot of black players are now, and will continue to be, instrumental in the English game. So we are not talking PC bullshit. Actually there's no real need for a woman or an Asian or a gay representative, as these minorities do not really represent any major numbers playing the game today. Having said that, if the woman, Asian or gay candidate is good enough, they should be on the committee.

However, all things being equal (and that is a key point) a black representative having been through Football's systems from being a youngster to an established Professional player, will surely have better insights into the way forward from the young black player's point of view. Therefore, I think it would be logical for someone from this background to be on the committee,

The committee should be populated with people best qualified to do the job.

The question of what the colour/creed/race/gender/sexuality makeup of the committee is absolutely irrelevant - any attempt to question it just highlights the agendas of the people who are dong the questioning - just pick the best qualified, no ifs, no buts.

It's just a case of everyone fighting to get their noses in the trough.

A person of any colour can have the job if they are the best person for the job.

Black players have redress under employment law and discrimination incentives, why do they need a Black players representative?

Can I just say that Gareth Bale is unquestionably a primate? I wonder what trumped up charge the PC brigade can throw at me now - oh no! i should have thought before opening my trap!

I believe Danny Mills wrote a letter to the FA detailing ideas he thinks could be implemented, although he is a tosser he showed some initiative, maybe if Sol Campbell had done the same for instance he might have got one of the useless but cushy jobs

One of Mills' ideas is to contravene EU employment law.
I heard him personally espouse it on Radio 5.
Truly.
Not that bright is he?

Anyway. I see the FA have buckled and added Woy and Wio to the committee.

The joke, as far as I can remember, goes something like this.

NASA send a monkey and an astronaut into space.

Each is given a list of tasks to do.

MONKEY
Check booster separation.
Fire retro rockets a T+ 22.05 into the mission.
Check correct orbit is achieved and adjust if needed.
Perform scientific tests.
Relay telemetry data to mission control.
Prepare for re-entry.

ASTRONAUT
Feed the monkey.

If this is indeed the joke Hodgson told, I defy anyone to find anything remotely racist about it.

I don't think Roy actually told the joke, just made reference to the punch line by saying feed the monkey. All that said any person who took offence to it should have approached Hodgson privately and said so to his face.

No offence was intended and none was taken by the person who was being referred to (Townsend).

What kind of society are we living in?

Anyone that takes offence at this are the people that really need to be sat down and talked with, they need to understand the world does not rotate around racist sensitivities and nor should it.

The reporter who broke this story tweeted today that he was contacted directly by the England player concerned on Wednesday morning and also said that the footballer was adamant that Andros Townsend had said that he was offended by woys remarks he also said that the player was willing to allow himself to be named but it hasn't happened yet
