Ruben Cousillas

Is Godin a better option than Otamendi?
In the system he play, based on performances, Godin is maybe the best CB in the world. Our defencive structure is all over the place tho, only a experienced and clever Demichelis has fully coped with it at our team. Kompany looked like the best in the world under Bobby, but we gave our defence more advantages back then.

The positive thing is Godin has shown begore that he's a good defender in a Pellegrini system and they know each other well.

But many La Liga defenders struggle in the PL

Every team or manager makes bad buys. The best thing to do is admit it to yourself and replace them if you get the opportunity to. Mangala will never be top class, love the way people make out he's about 18 too. He might never even be as good as the bloody Sakho!

And would you share with the rest of us how your qualified to write Mangala off so soon?

Spot on. By Mangala's age, the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Pique and Nesta were all accomplished elite level performers. Nastasic arrived at 19 and took to the league like a duck to water. Stones also joined Everton at the same age and has excelled against top opposition. Both will go on to have long careers at the very top of the game.

Mangala can't read the game, and is positionally awful; two key elements of a great defender, he sorely lacks. David Luiz is an infinitely better footballer, but will never be a great defender because he too lacks football intelligence.

Against Stuttgart a few weeks back where Kompany was widely slated, Mangala was the biggest culprit for the first three goals; he was absolutely all over the place. But it isn't in vogue to scrutinise his ineptitude so people would rather turn on the captain.

Some people are so desperate for him not to be a dud that they'd rather we keep him in the team and cost us goals, points and consequently success on a regular basis than is accept he was a bad signing and replace him.

Wow, never watched the likes of Vonk, Symons etc, now they were shite and we used to love them. Mangala is a very good footballer, not world class but nonetheless very good. He is adapting to a new league, lifestyle, culture etc, I seem to recall the likes of Henry, Viera having a shit first season, even Silva was bobbins for the first few months.

He's already better than Sakho!

Interesting comment and I hear similar from a lot from city fans that crave to be acknowledge by other city fans. Usual tactic slate the player that it is fashionable to have a go at and look as if you know what you are talking about. As you seem to have such a knowledge of the game here is last years statistics from the Premier league

Mangala - Played - 25, Won 18, Drawn 4, Lost 3 - CLEAN SHEETS 13
Demichelis - Played - 31, Won 20, Drawn 6, Lost 5 - CLEAN SHEETS 9
Kompany - Played 25, Won 14, Drawn 4, Lost 7 - CLEAN SHEETS 5

Now any chance yourself and .A. can explain how our supposedly worst defender who will never make it had the best performances over all our other defenders last season.
