Value him at whatever you want, 0% chance anyone was paying €15m for Otamendi this summer.

Thats not the point I'm making basically a 15M sale in the books would just about cover Dias fee and wages for his first season. The higher book value we get for Otamendi the better, doesn't mean City and Benfica think he's worth that much, just a bit of creative accounting.

He's very hit or miss from what I've seen (only like 6 games tbh). There are stretches where he looks legit world class and then he goes and does something completely idiotic.

Whatever though. If we get him, I'm going to back him 100%. Tools are there to be exceptional. Seems to have good leadership skills/ability to command the back line.

Would prefer Kounde but it is what it is.

What's his pace like mate?
Probably pretty medium, not exceptional, not slow. A lot of CB's seem to be about the same speed imo and ony a few stand out one way or the other. Maybe about Laporte paced? Hard to say, doesn't get caught out for speed, but that's as much about reading as it is about raw speed

Does anyone think/know whether he can fit right in and be as reliable as Laporte? Cause if he can be that then we cool..

I think pace is a legitimate question point. However as long as he's not a snail I think what really helps is reading of the game. In 17/18 Stones and in particular Otamendi were no fast guys but they were really sharp and quick to snuff things out, so their pace didn't matter as much. Plus being faster to react meant they always were ahead of the attacker if they had to gallop back.

If he can pass, read the game well, and not defend like a muppet, it's a real good start.

I fail to see how any deal that gets Otamendi far, far away could possibly be a bad deal.
It seems we have money, but we would rather do a deal that helps us move Otamendi in the opposite direction, which is the concerning bit. We are absolutely terrible at selling when clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea fleece clubs with big fees on far lesser players.

Bit harsh but probably true. Strange one with Ota as quite popular but not been good enough for a couple of years now.

Be honest, haven't seen much of this chap. We do need a RCB though. Still clinging on to stones putting on 2 stone and growing a pair of balls
