Rugby League Season 2023

That does seem odd - captain last year to out the door? Taken badly to not being captain or that he's fallen out with the coach badly, maybe.
He's also the one who goes out on the BBC Super League Show which you'd think meant he was still in good standing.
All the stranger with the Rhinos letting Brad Dwyer go at the end of last season. A lot of eggs being put in the Jarrod O’Connor basket plus their potential cover in the development squad and having first team era playing out of position.

Leeming’s can be quality and his tempo and game management suits a more dominant pack whereas Brad Dwer could create his own magic.

I can’t go to City tomorrow so thought I’d get my sport fix in tonight. Decent night out although not very competitive. The score flatters Leigh a bit as they scored 2 late tries. Decent crowd too.
Over 12,000 there, very decent crowd! Considering loads of moaning fuckers said they weren’t renewing their season tickets after last season (must be Rags with Rag mentalities) and won’t be back until Powell goes, that’s a good effort.

Record attendance apparently, good going!
Only a record Wire attendance against Leigh, not an all-time record or even a HJ record.

12,073 there last night but it holds 15,300 and we’ve had a number of crowds around the 15,000 mark… record is 15,008 against Weirdness. I was at that one and it was a bit dodgy in the South Stand, packed isn’t the word, it was like sardines.

SS was well populated last night! Cash turnstiles too. Like the good old Swales days

When Thewlis went off (HIA) our right edge was Minikin (crap) and Matautia (Emporer's Mew Clothes). Other than that, we have a good squad.

5/5 but I'm not getting giddy, though.
It's mid March. I'd sooner have this form in September/October

Saints-Hull was a tough game, only decided with a couple of minutes to go with Bennison's second.
Hull were a bounce of the ball away from taking the lead shortly before, and it was a very messy game from both sides. Hull were a completely different side from the shambles against Salford.

One oddity which may have played into that was Makinson playing at centre (Hurrell banned, Percival pulled out in the warm-up), and the last twenty or so had another winger playing as the other centre.

Some shocking news surfacing tonight about former player Gareth Hock . Unbelievable…….

It’s a shame that Connor Wrench did his ACL at the end of last season. I rate him more highly than Thewlis, Mata'utia and Minikin.

Oh yeah, even if we end up 7/7 before the trip to Perpignan, we shouldn’t be getting ahead of ourselves. Last season was a season for Powell to weed out who he didn’t want and who he did. All we want this season is improvement, better defence, better attack, better performances, make the play-offs, better cohesion, better feel about the club, positivity etc. and see where we are come the end of the season. Then iron out what needs ironing out next Winter and I’d say next season would be where we get serious. If we do anything major this season it’ll be a bonus.
