Rugby League thread

I wonder if he's still in touch with his old mucker Henderson Gill,a right pair them two off the field back in the day.
I’m not sure mate but he refers to the Wigan players he’s in touch with by their first names eg Sean. I think he’s changed off the pitch lol

I’ve got a pic of the crowd at Odsell that day in my book on the history of RL. Rammed isn’t the word and I bet the crowd weren’t shouting offside every time the opposition passed the ball like the Bulls supporters used to do lol.
Odsell was used because it’s a natural bowl, my mum said after the match my dad and his mate were Pissed for a week, lol.

Just as an aside, and sorry for referring to Odsell again, but my dad’s mate was from Manchester, they’d met in the army, and he was a City fan. Although dad was RL mad he went a good few times to Maine Road, and took his mate Bill to Wilderspool. When the Rags were always on the telly, in the 60’s I’ll never forget him saying, “What’s all this bloody hoo ha about Manchester United? Manchester City are the Manchester team.”

In the last decade or two some pundits claimed that the game would become dominated by big muscle men. The top players are tremendous athletes but I think it’s good the predictions haven’t come true in the main.

Many of the best players of the last 15 years come in different shapes and sizes including Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Kevin Sinfield, James Roby, Sam Tompkins and Rob Burrow. Obviously, top teams need their power houses too like James Graham, Jamie Peacock and numerous South Sea Islanders that we could name.
