A thread called Virgin Broadband just caught my eye and I wondered if they played for an Aussie team
They love a Mitchall as wellGreat name haha. They love names like that in Aus, there are loads of Trent, Dane, Boyd, Wade, Jarrod, Brent, Brett, Blakes...
When Barrie and Terry are on, it sometimes sounds like Sky have left a microphone on the table in a pub and they’re just two pissed up blows watching the game... but still better than the ridiculous commentary you get with the footballThe other thing I like about League in both countries is the commentary. No stuffiness but some great banter between them.
Bollox, when I first went crowds were 30,000 plus, and I’ve seen them win, and lose at Wembley, a frustrating side for sure, but no tiddlers.
I’m surprised you don’t remember watching Warrington Zingari.......In 1948 the home crowd at Wilderspool was 34304.
30000 were common numbers during the 50’s.
Ellery Hanley lives near me and we occasionally have a chat about Rugby League. We don’t discuss Wigan too much because I don’t mention their name and call them “your lot”. Still they were the best British team in my lifetime.
I find Wigan fans get the balance right, say spending two thirds of a match celebrating their own team and one third taking the piss out of the opposition. I find the plastic Scousers used to be good, humble fans but have got very giddy after winning a few trophies in recent years.
It is good that Warrington / Moran have grown the Club so there are enough contenders for titles after Bradford’s demise. That said, Salford have been brilliant over the last 18 months, even after selling “the myth” to Wigan
Sorry, buddy you’re wrong about crowd sizes, Wigan has certainly had higher averages over the years, but go back to the 50’s and earlier, the place was rammed.
