Ireland were the best team in the Northern Hemisphere, they’re not any more :)
They looked more like Italy, without the sun tans, today

I don’t know an awful lot about the technicalities of rugby, but one thing that is typical about the Irish rugby team is that they always seem to look great about a year before the competition that matters.
Other great teams build to peak for the World Cup. We predictably peak the year before.
I honestly didn’t expect much out of this tournament and haven’t been disappointed.
Just not good enough and so many mistakes.
Next Saturday morning, Tonga vs GB test match, followed by Eng NZ semi. A wonderful double-header morning in prospect :-) @Tim of the Oak
You are right about Ireland not peaking at the World Cup. Even the coach said the game had come a year too late.
Tonight was particularly strange, albeit against great opposition. Some of the Irish lads who’ve been fantastic for a decade or so were like rabbits in the headlights today. Jonny Sexton has been World player of the Year and Rob Kearney is a Lions legend but both made very basic errors tonight. Henshaw bounced back over dropping the sitter over the line. Maybe the occasion was a bit too much under the intense All Black pressure.
The All Blacks, Japan and maybe Wales are the only teams to show consistency and limit the number of handling errors. Japan have made the tournament so far but I reckon South Africa will give them a dose of reality.
