I feel for the Welsh but its a red plain and simple. It's in the rule book and the IRB have said there will be zero tolerance on it, you simply can't drop a player on his head

This is the way it's being called on RTE but the French player was'nt injured, world cup semi surely a yellow should have been given.

Possibly RTE are defending a poor decision by an Irish referee.
Who has a French father.
Which i'm sure is purely coincidental.

You havent seen George Hook in action then.He calls it as he see's it.

has nothing to do with whether the player is injured or not and I'd be surprised if itv are calling it any differently. Anyone who's played rugby or actually follows the game shouldn't be surprised by the decision. It's the exact same as a footballer being sent off for lunging in two footed/studs up. Doesn't actually matter if they make contact it's still a red

ITV are calling it very differently.
But then their pundits are merely three outstanding ex international players with a shedload of caps,so clearly you know better than they do.
so itv are saying its a shocking decision and that tackles like that should be allowed? If they are I'd be very disappointed in them.

no, they're saying it's a sin bin at worst, that it wasn't intentional and that Warburton let go of him because he knew he'd tipped him a bit too much, and that he didn't dump him on his head.

not the same as footy as 2 completely different sports with different punishments.

-- Sat Oct 15, 2011 10:19 am --

YES!

No mate - they acknowledge that the tackle was unlawful, but that the punishment was disproportionate.
Fuck me - Wales have just scored!

possibly could have been a sin bin but refs have been told to take a tough view on it so should be expected.

Anyway I'm getting back to watching the match. Come on the taffs

Heartbreaking for Wales, but how shit were France? It will be a travesty if they win it out
