Rules on dropped ball

Just checked this on highlights the ball was in City’s pocession as it was a lofted ball by Rodri to Mendy who got last contact the ball went onwards the corner flag and Atkinson blew before it went out of play. So if it’s right that the team in procession should get the drop ball then why was it given to Wolves?

If the ref deson't know they give it the defending side, the same with a throw-in or corner/goal kick. Been like this forever.

They should bring back back proper drop balls and i'd make the fuckers take their shin pads out as well.
